Despite What You've Heard (From Us), Gal Gadot Was Paid At Least As Much As Henry Cavill For "Wonder Woman"

Updated! A source familiar with the situation told BuzzFeed News that Gadot was paid "at least" as much for Wonder Woman as Cavill was paid for Man of Steel.

Even if you haven't seen Wonder Woman yet (and what are you waiting for?!), it's been impossible to avoid the buzz surrounding the movie.

Warner Bros.

Not only is it the first major superhero movie to be directed by a woman, but it also smashed box office records (it had a $100.5 million opening weekend), is rated 92% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and quickly became the most tweeted-about movie of 2017.

And, if all ~that~ wasn't enough, Forbes reported on Friday that the movie had earned over $500 million worldwide, making Patty Jenkins the fourth-ever female director to pass that mark.

In short, it's been a pretty damn successful few weeks for Wonder Woman.

On Tuesday, a tweet that claimed Henry Cavill was paid $14 million for Man of Steel, compared to Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot's rumored $300,000, went viral.

Gal Gadot made $300,000 for Wonder Woman as compared to Henry Cavill's $14M for Man of Steel. The most compelling DC villain is the pay gap.

It has since been somewhat clarified.

But those numbers, it turns out, aren't accurate. A source familiar with the situation told BuzzFeed News that Gadot was paid "at least" as much for Wonder Woman as Cavill was paid for Man of Steel.

Though neither salary has been confirmed by Cavill, Gadot, or Warner Bros., a source familiar with star salaries for studio franchise movies was certain Cavill did not make anywhere close to $14 million as his base pay for Man of Steel.

That figure could reflect how much Cavill has made for Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman, and Justice League, including box office participation.

Plus, she'll hopefully be able to negotiate a higher salary for her (unconfirmed, but let's keep our fingers crossed) next movie as the most badass superhero in the universe. 💪🏻

BuzzFeed News has reached out to representatives for Gal Gadot and Warner Bros. for comment and confirmation.
