11 Reasons Why Kitty Covey Is The Unsung Hero Of "To All The Boys I've Loved Before"

    Peter K. is cool and all. But Kitty Covey is an icon.

    Netflix blessed us with To All The Boys I've Loved Before this past weekend and we are here for it. Specifically, for Peter K.

    But REALLY, people should be talking about Kitty Covey, AKA the baddest queen in the game. And here's why:

    1. She knows how to diffuse awkward situations.

    When Margot low-key dumps Josh in front of the entire Covey crew, it's Kitty who breaks the tension. Also, when Lara Jean and Dr. Covey are sad about Margot leaving for Scotland, it's Kitty who puts a smile on their faces. Like, if I ever have to deliver bad news, I want Kitty to be there to work the room after.

    2. She's a feminist queen who doesn't let a ~man~ tell her what to do.

    Kitty puts her dad in his place when he tries to tell her about the inner-workings of the female body. But Kitty, as a woman, knows her body better than any man ever could! Also, peep her necklace. It says feminist! Ugh, love that for her.

    3. She has a playful sense of humor.

    Along with being able to settle some tension, the kid is also hella funny. Extensive measures have to be taken when Lara Jean is behind the wheel!

    4. She's also pretty practical.

    I mean, let's be real. The kid has a point.

    5. She keeps it real — even if the truth sometimes hurts.

    Kitty's telling it like it is! Like, yeah, we get it, Lara Jean. You feel most comfortable at home. But you need to break out of your shell, girl!

    6. She doesn't let Lara Jean run away from her problems.

    When Lara Jean escapes her house to avoid Josh, she ends up facing Peter K. because Kitty is not letting her get out of this one!

    7. With Kitty, respect is earned, not given.

    She makes Peter K. work for it! He can't waltz right through with his cute smile and his "woah woah woahs." He has to earn her friendship.

    8. She loves and respects the classics.

    It's nice to see kids these days really appreciating the classics, ~especially~ Golden Girls and Sixteen Candles. She's right, Jake Ryan was smokin'. She also puts Peter in his place when he's under the impression that he's hotter than Jake. Make him sweat, girl.

    9. She won't go down without a fight.

    Just 'cause Peter K. is a dreamboat, DOES NOT mean Kitty is gonna let him win this pillow fight. She came, she saw, she conquered.

    10. Kitty wants the best for her sisters, especially Lara Jean.

    Kitty sends out the letters because she picked up on the ~sparks~ between Lara Jean and Peter way back when Lara Jean almost ran him over. She knew Lara Jean wouldn't take the risk, so Kitty took the risk for her. And the risk paid off, if you ask me.

    11. AND LASTLY, she's the reason why Lara Jean and Peter K. get back together!

    Kitty not only saved Lara Jean's most prized possession — her mother's hat box — but she also provided Lara Jean with the proof she needed in order for her to believe that Peter K. did, in fact, love her. Like, how sweet is that??? *Grabs Kleenex.*

    So, three cheers for Kitty! The best sister ever and the unsung hero of this blessed movie.
