Disney Is Finally Updating This Kinda Messed Up Part Of Its Pirates Of The Caribbean Ride

"We wants the redhead!" Don't worry, she stays.

Pirates of the Caribbean is a great ride. It's a classic, and the last Disneyland attraction to actually be overseen by Walt Disney himself during construction.

The ride first opened in 1967 and, well, that was a long time ago.

And now Pirates will finally be updating its questionable "Bride Auction" part of the ride 50 years later.

But fans of the famous redhead in this scene, DON'T WORRY, because she'll still be a part of the ride, just with a new role.

As Kathy Mangum, SVP, Atlantic Region Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering, explained in a blog post, "You’ll even discover that a familiar character is playing a new role joining the pirates ranks and helping the local townspeople 'unload' their valuables at the Mercado auction. In the U.S., this famous redhead will appear in a similar scene at the Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland park in 2018 following a previously scheduled refurbishment."

And here's an artist's rendering of what the new Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort scene will look like:

A slightly closer look.

Of course, some fans of the ride are not as excited about this change.

But, to be fair, this isn't the first time the ride has gone under an update, either.

As the OC Register reported, some years ago a scene where the pirates chased women during the ride had been changed to have the pirates chasing women for food and also updated a scene to have one of the women chasing a pirate herself.
