Much, much better than the name brand sickly sweet synthetic smelling one that I picked up at Target. It's not overwhelming and still manages to freshen the room after changing toddlers diapers. Promising review: "I love this thing! The armrests are the perfect hight and have made typing so much more comfortable. I'm a PhD student in history and now that I'm working from home, this table has made writing and doing research all day from home that much easier. The device, a bag, and two tubes of product

This massager is everything I never knew I needed. I can feel it shaking every drop of tension out of my body. It's great. I only use this for about a minute on every muscle group, but it still makes a difference. Plus, the size makes it easy to store and carry.

Promising review: "I am pleasantly surprised (one might say shocked) by how well this little device does its job. I’ve been doing a lot of hiking in the past few months, and have unfortunately come to the conclusion that my muscle recovery time isn’t what it used to be. The Theragun Mini has been amazing for post-hike wind-down, and I don’t feel the icky next day soreness nearly as much anymore. I haven’t tried percussive massagers but can say that the intensity and benefits are easily comparable to a regular in-person massage session. It's easy to hold/handle. Battery time is more than acceptable —it takes about an hour to fully charge, which gives about two hours of runtime. It's very quiet for how powerful it is. it’s high-pitched and kind of sounds like an electric toothbrush. It’s also really portable and comes with a soft protective case that I’ve also been storing it in. This is definitely a good introductory device into the world of percussive massagers. It has changed my well-being for the better." —Olga

Get it from Amazon for $199 (available in three colors).

It fits my laptop wonderfully, and it is so convent to have a mouse pad already built in so you do not have to worry about extra bulk. The little cutouts for your tablet and phone come in handy. I use this for my schoolwork and it is very handy to be able to watch a video for class on my tablet and write notes at the same time. The quality of this product is very high. It is nice and solid." —Heather

Get it from Amazon for $58.81 (available in three colors).

    8. A cuddly body pillow because nothing compares to all-around support — especially if you're pregnant.

A person laying in the pillow

Promising review: "I had been using a regular size pillow under my legs or between my legs while sleeping to stabilize my spine due to a low back injury. It was very cumbersome and did not give great support. This cushy form pillow is great. It supports my legs in either position, is firm enough to stay in the same position and just the right size so it is easy to move from position to position. It is also the perfect size so I can see sticking it in my suitcase when I travel." —WJ

A reviewer's dog in the bed

Promising review: "I can't say enough about this bed! I have a tiny little 5-lb Chihuahua and the second I pulled the bed out of the box and fluffed it up like was shown in the video, she jumped in it and snuggled in deep for a long nap. She was a very neglected rescue and had recently had major dental surgery a few days before we got this bed. I bought her four beds because she didn't seem to like anything. She instantly fell in love and knew it was hers. It is very soft and wiggly but after a few days she figured out how to maneuver herself into comfy positions without rolling around in the puffiness. I discovered that by laying a blanket on the back, it gave it a little weight and didn't let it close while she was in it. Once the fluff inside settled, the blanket was no longer necessary because the bed became much more stable. I will repurchase when she needs a new one, but it's well made and don't anticipate needing a new one for a while." —Tia L Frost

Get it from Amazon for $33.72 (available in 16 colors, four sizes, and two styles).

    11. A high-quality Bearaby Cotton Napper that's as beautiful as it is calming. Heavier blankets can also provide benefits believed to help some people with stress and anxiety.

    A person underneath the blankets

Promising review: "I'm so happy to have finally made this purchase. I occasionally deal with insomnia/wakeups and struggle to get back to sleep. I can't say for sure how much the blanket has helped, but I haven't experienced any of those problems since the blanket arrived. I sometimes wish I had gone with the 20 lb instead of 15, but that my be because the weight gets shared a bit with the body pillow I use and my sleeping kid, who sometimes shares a bed with me. I tend to sleep hot and have felt really comfortable, only sometimes getting rid of the flat sheet under the blanket." —Kelsey C.

Get it from Bearaby for $199 (available in four sizes and five colors).

    12. A calming sleep salve to ease your weathered spirit after a rough day of existing in 2021. Just massage this lavender, chamomile, and lemon-infused balm onto your body and let it put you to sleep.

A Dream Balm in a round purple container
    Woodland Herbal/Etsy

Here's why my coworker loves it:

"I bought this a few weeks ago and have been using it as needed — like if there are nights I'm going to bed and feel a little more anxious than usual, or not as tired as I should be. I found that it helps put me a bit more in a sleep headspace for sure, but what I've really loved it for is when I wake up in the middle of the night. Usually if that happens I am wide awake for a few hours at least, and when that happens several times a week, it is, uh, Not Good. I'm reluctant to take melatonin or a sleeping aid so far into the middle of the night, but this has been *excellent* at helping me drift back to sleep without knocking me out and making me feel super groggy when it's actually time to get up. I just apply it to my temples and inner wrists as the seller suggests (they mention you can use it on your feet as well). It has a really nice scent to it that soothes without being overpowering at all; I really only notice it if my nose is like, right on my wrist, and it doesn't linger anywhere when I get up the next day. 11/10 recommend for anyone who wakes up in the middle of the night and wants a way to get back to sleep!" —Emma Lord

    13. A memory foam mattress to sink into after a long day of shenanigans. Three layers of foam help with comfort, airflow, and durability.

thick white mattress on a bed frame

Promising review: "My husband and I purchased the 12" king-sized version of this mattress. I purposely waited almost a year to review this mattress because I believe most things are good in the beginning, but only time can tell how good a product really is. Before buying this mattress, we had the card in hand ready to spend $1,200 on another memory foam mattress from a furniture store, but couldn't go through with it. I had looked up this mattress a few days before going to the furniture store, which is what ultimately caused us to not buy the $1,200 mattress. After almost a year, I can say I still love this mattress. After a long day, when I lay down in it, I can feel my whole body just relax into it, all while being supported. We initially put an encased mattress cover on it when we first got it and yes, I woke up sweating. I suspected it could be the cover and took it off and haven't had a night sweat since — even in the summer. I don't think it gets too warm at all. Besides comfort, there is the price. You can't beat it. I would even say it is a steal. We shopped for five hours at five different furniture and mattress stores before deciding on this one. The average price of the king mattresses we looked at ranged from $800 to $1,500. For less than $400, you get a quality mattress. Even if it doesn't last five years, you got your money's worth and at a fraction of the cost of the store mattresses. We enjoyed our bed so much, that when our son was in need of a new mattress, we bought him the full-sized version. We are very happy with that purchase as well. They are great mattresses and I have no complaints. I highly recommend them!" —crazypelo77

Promising review: "This duvet is beautiful and laundered well. I have more expensive linen sheets from another retailer that are not nearly the quality of Quince's sheets. Unlike my expensive sheets, this Quince duvet hasn't shed fibers and feels thick and substantial. I'll be buying a set of sheets to match the duvet!" —Kaitlyn M.

Promising review: "I purchased the king duvet cover in Fog, which is a very pale khaki color. It is THE softest duvet cover I've ever owned. I'm a hot sleeper, and I haven't woken once in a sweat since we got this. The 100% cotton duvet cover we had before made our down comforter feel heavy — not the case with the Sijo product. I will be coming back for sheets! The only thing I wish is that there were more color choices." —Beth B.

Promising review: "These sheets are insanely soft to the touch and comfortable to sleep on! I originally bought them for my 10-year-old son's bed because they were highly rated for softness and not that expensive. They truly are so soft. He loves them, so I decided to get some for the guest bedroom. They're so great that everyone that stays there wants to know what brand they are. They're awesome!! Now I have them for all of our beds. They are lightweight, so they dry quickly and don't pill. They are NOT cotton, which I'm usually a snob about, but I have to confess, I like these better than my four-times-as-expensive cotton sheets. I love them and the price!!" —Gwendolyn

    19. A voice-controlled Bose Smart Speaker 500 so you can really run your home from your bed. I tell my assistant to play music, turn on my air purifiers, change the color of my lights, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

    A person using the speaker

This speaker changed the way I listen to music. It connects directly to Spotify so I command it to play whatever album, song, or playlist is in my spirit. I ask it about the weather, I command it to set alarms and timers, *and* I ask it math questions because I suck at doing calculations in my head. And I programmed it to speak to me in Issa Rae's voice 😌. The speaker is very easy to set up with the Bose Music App and I really like that I can play music via AirPlay, Bluetooth, or through Bose's App. I cranked this up to its top volume and my roommate joked that I was having a Stevie Wonder concert in my room. It lives in my room but I often pair it with my Soundbar 300 so I can hear the same tunes in my living room and kitchen. I'd love to have a Bose Smart Speaker in every room because I'm always listening to music. If you love music, get this speaker. It'll become the center of your home listening experience. It's also integrated with Amazon Music and Pandora.

I have linked my Amazon Music, Sirius XM, Spotify, and iHeartRadio through WIFI and am finally able to stream my favorite music to a super quality speaker. I wasn't sure if I would utilize the ALEXA voice assistant when I bought it that I set up the app.......holy cow.......I don't know how I lived without her before.......I am in love! She is so smart and polite and funny and available........the technology is truly mind-shattering." —Amazon Customer

My feet get cold easily, and it's been a struggle to find a perfect fit; all socks were either too large or too thick or tight or not warm enough — until I tried these. And the price is pretty fair for the set of three pairs. I wish there was a better color selection but other than that, they are perfect. Highly recommend!" —Tatiana

Grace Eleyae is a Black woman-owned business that makes pillowcases, caps, and other hair accessories.

Promising review: "This is a great cap and the price is reasonable for the quality. I use mostly for night, but its very stylish and can be worn out. Its a little big for my head so it sometimes slips a bit while I'm sleeping, but I don't like things to tight on my head so I don't mind. Its very comfortable. Sometimes my head gets a little warm with it on, but mostly fine. I noticed my hair was feeling more dried out sleeping on my regular pillow. This has helped my hair not feel so dry in the morning and smoother when I brush it. I used it on a trip recently where the humidity was very high and my hair didn't turn into a frizz ball like it usually does. Very pleased and have already given it as a gift." —Anonymous
