16 New Things Coming To Disney World That I'm Currently Hyped For
Someone invent time travel so we can speed things up!
What's up! I'm Audrey and I was recently invited to Disney World in Florida where they unveiled their plans for SO. MANY. NEW. THINGS. coming to the parks that the only way I think I can share it all is with a list! Without further ado...
Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway
Opening March 4, 2020, Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway will take you inside a Mickey Mouse cartoon. Goofy is your conductor though, so we'll see how well that'll work out. I got a small sneak peek of this new attraction and IT. IS. ADORABLE. That's all I'm going to say about that.
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure
Take on everything from a mouse's perspective when this attraction opens at the France pavilion in Epcot this coming summer. Remy's Ratatouille Adventure will be part of a new section of the pavilion that'll look more like Pixar's version of France than the existing pavilion.
Tron: Lightcycle Run
The popular Shanghai Disneyland attraction will open at Disney's Magic Kingdom in 2021. Guests will board their own lightcycle as they zip around this
Tron-inspired attraction. It'll live in Tomorrowland next to Space Mountain.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Cosmic Rewind, set to open in 2021, will be one of the largest indoor roller coasters in theme park history. Ride cars on the attraction will be able to rotate 360 degrees and are capable of reverse launches. The ride will start at an exhibition exploring the similarities between Earth and Xandar until the Guardians show up with what I assume will be a killer soundtrack.
Space 220 gets its name because you'll be dining as if you're 220 miles above the Earth. You'll have to board a "space elevator" to get there, which will show you leaving Florida to dine among the stars. The restaurant will feature modern American cuisine, over 1,000 bottles of wine, a craft beer selection, and sweeping panoramic views of space. Space 220 will open at Epcot this winter as an expansion of the Mission: Space pavilion.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ
In Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios, The Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a new table service restaurant set to accompany Woody's Lunch Box as the other food offering in the new addition to the park. At Roundup Rodeo, you're transformed into the size of a toy and put into a big ol' mish-mash of your favorite
Toy Story characters playing in a rodeo.
La Crêperie de Paris
In the new area of the France pavilion near Remy's Ratatouille Adventure will be an authentic crêperie. There's not much more you need to know about it except crêpes are delicious, and we should all be looking forward to this opening.
Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue
Try saying the name of that restaurant five times fast! Regal Eagle will live in the American Adventure pavilion of Epcot where Liberty Inn used to be. The centerpiece of the promenade will be a large smoker cooking up mouthwatering bites. The restaurant is set to open later this year.
Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along
The Beauty and the Beast sing-along will rotate playing with
Impressions de France, the current film in the France pavilion of Epcot. This tale as old as time features an unexpected twist to the original. It's also narrated by the original film's Mrs. Potts, Angela Lansbury. The film will debut at the beginning of Epcot's Festival of the Arts on Jan. 17, 2020.
Two more films are debuting the same day that Epcot's Festival of the Arts starts, and one of them is
Awesome Planet. In The Land at Epcot, the 10-minute film will feature the wonders of our planet along with a new original score by Stephen Price.
Canada Far and Wide
The last film,
Canada Far and Wide will replace O, Canada in the Canada pavilion of Epcot. While O, Canada was narrated by Martin Short, two other famous Canadian legends, Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy, will take up narrating duties for this new Circle-Vision picture.
DuckTales World Showcase Adventure
DuckTales is coming to Epcot. I don't know if you picked up on this but A LOT is coming to Epcot (which is fine because it's the best park anyway). The DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will take place on the Play Disney Parks app as you help the main protagonists search for treasure. I have to say I'll be really sad if this replaces the Phineas and Ferb Agent P game around the World Showcase, but no word yet on whether or not the two games will overlap.
Mickey Shorts Theatre
I AM A SUCKER for an attraction that lets me sit in the air-conditioning and watch TV. Enter Mickey Shorts Theatre, a new offering opening in March 2020 at Disney's Hollywood Studios that'll let you just take a break from the overwhelming humidity and swarms of people to kick back and chill with some Mickey Mouse cartoons.
Journey of Water
Moana-themed attraction is coming to Epcot! From the concept art, it looks like a blissful tropical paradise. Not a whole lot is known about this walkthrough except that guests will be able to interact with water like never before. I don't know about you, but I really hope it tries to do my hair like it does in Moana.
Illuminations, then Epcot Forever, but Epcot will be getting a new nighttime spectacular following Epcot Forever's limited run. It's called HarmonioUS, and it'll center around how Disney music inspires people around the world. It'll be the largest nighttime show ever created for a Disney park.
Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser
Finally, the Galactic Starcruiser will set off for a galaxy far, far away in 2021! Guests on the ship will be able to live their own
Star Wars adventure by interacting with characters on board, taking control of the Starcruiser on the bridge, and even training with a lightsaber. Every choice you make onboard will affect your experience with the First Order and Resistance in this totally immersive 2-night journey!
That's not even all of it! I didn't touch on the new Mary Poppins area coming to the UK Pavilion, the new Disney Play experience, or the new resort, Lakeside Lodge, coming to the Magic Kingdom resort area.
So I'm thinking out loud here...what if we just moved to Disney World? You'd think in the 40-something square miles of real estate they have, there's somewhere we could pitch a tent where nobody could find us and we could be there for all of these awesome openings!
There's so much coming that I'm going to have to renew my annual pass. If you need a buddy to go with, just let me know and I'll meet you at the parks!
