Baking Isn't Hard For People Good At Following Directions, And 16 Other Arguable Food Opinions I Agree With

Baking will forever remain difficult for me because I'm bad at following directions.

Recently, I stumbled on this Reddit thread by u/rawlingstones that asked, "What’s your stupidest cooking opinion so we can all fight about it?" TBH, I agree with these. What do you think?

1. "I've never eaten a dish that was made better by truffle oil. Overwhelming taste and smell. Used solely to add 20% to the price of the dish."

u/tunafriendlydolphin

2. "Wrapping things in bacon is the best way to ruin any food. Welcome to this stringy, wet meat blanket that only tastes like floppy ding-ding and not like what you tried to put it on to begin with. Bacon has a prominent flavor. It's going to be the star of whatever you put it in, so let it be crisp and delicious and not an accurate representation of your uncle's soggy love for you."

3. "Can we stop saying 'bone broth'? It's bleeping stock."

u/maik-n-aik

4. "I don’t care if someone salts the food that I made them before or after trying it. As long as they enjoy it, I’m happy."

u/zarza_mora

5. "I hate when people leave the tails on shrimp, especially in pasta dishes. Why not just remove it all?"

u/earthtoemjai

6. "Cakes aren’t worth making from scratch. From-scratch cakes are so minimally different from boxed cakes that I can’t be bothered. Same for brownies."

u/S4mm1

7. "Pre-minced jarred garlic is fine, and you can pry the Costco-size jar of it out of my cold, dead hands on this hill I've chosen to die on."

u/knittykitty26

8. "People who are super bougie and refuse to eat mayo because it's 'gross,' but will then gobble up a trough of aioli if a brunch place puts it in front of them, are the absolute worst and can fuck right the hell off. It's fancy mayo, bitch. Get over yourself."

u/krb2133

9. "The only known purpose of capers is to ruin the whole dish."

u/Superb_Nectarine

10. "Spaghetti is the stupidest pasta shape."

u/Pitta_

11. "Pineapple on pizza is actually quite nice, and the roasted sweetness complements the salty dish."

u/thereal_genghiskhan

12. "Simply mixing everything together at once for baking rather than mixing dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately is good enough most of the time."

u/stephenfromaustin

13. "Just microwaving veggies for sides should be outlawed."

u/[deleted]

14. "Grilled cheese sandwiches should only be cut diagonally."

u/Sulissthea

15. "Chili without beans is a wasted opportunity."

u/Maple-Whiskey

16. "Every part of green onions is USABLE! The green and the white! Both! Yes! Use the whole thing!"

u/bijten

17. Finally, "Baking isn’t difficult, you’re just bad at following directions."
