Are You Using The Term "Best Friend" Correctly?

Settle this never-ending debate.

Friends. We've all got 'em.

But some friends are just a little better than others. Some, you might say, are the best.

Turns out, though, there's some disagreement about when it is appropriate to call someone a "best" friend.

Maybe you agree with the grammarians who insist the superlative REQUIRES there only be one.

Best implies being better than all the rest so you can only have one best friend. If you have more than one they are just good friends!

Or perhaps you're in the more inclusive camp, with Mindy Lahiri?

Do girls not understand the use of superlatives in the English language? Best means greatest, only! You can't have multiple best friends.

So I hate how someone says "you can't have multiple bestfriends I don't undestand" it really bothers me because I'm pretty sure you can #smh
