Mark Hamill Was Fired From Jack In The Box For Doing Voices In The Drive-Thru And It's My New Favorite Story

"One day I'll be the Joker, and then you'll be sorry!"

While every Star Wars fan is quick to recognize Mark Hamill as the one and only Luke Skywalker, many of my fellow nerds ALSO know of his long and proud history of voiceover work.

Whether it's the (best) Joker in Batman: The Animated Series or — most recently — Mr. Good Guy/Buddi himself, Chucky, Hamill has been the voice behind some of the most well-known characters of all time.

And this week — while appearing on The Late Late Show With James Corden — Hamill revealed that he wasn't ALWAYS celebrated for his talents in voice-acting:

The conversation started with Bradley Whitford revealing that this wasn't the first time he'd met Hamill, having met him back when Whitford was a waiter and Hamill was at the height of his Star Wars fame in 1981.

Whitford remarked that Hamill was a memorably good tipper, which lead Hamill into an excellent rant about how he'll never forget the importance of tipping because he had ALSO worked in the food industry as a struggling actor.

That's when Hamill noted that he had previously worked "down the street" from The Late Late Show studio at a local Jack In The Box, where he would often find himself bored out of his mind and trying out new character voices.

"I was in the back all of the time, making shakes and minding the grill," Hamill said. "But I always aspired to work the drive-thru window."

However, when Hamill finally got the chance to man the coveted window spot, he blew it by doing the voice of the Jack In The Box mascot (an already terrifying clown) in the creepiest way possible.

"My manager didn't think it was very funny," Hamill said. "He told me to go home and never come back."

But Hamill made sure to remind everyone that he had the last laugh...literally:

So yeah, he's an excellent tipper and a hilarious human — just another couple of reasons to love Mr. Mark Hamill.
