We recently asked members of our BuzzFeed Community, "If there was an Academy Award given for 'Funniest Comedic Banter in a Motion Picture,' what are some of the performances that would've for sure taken home the gold?" and you better believe movie lovers came through with their favorite back-and-forth dialogue between characters!
So, with that in mind, here are just a few of the most popular responses shared:
1. Bridesmaids (2011)
"The banter between Annie and 'Stove' while they're on the plane. Kristen Wiig is hilarious, and the flight attendant is perfectly angry and exasperated."

2. This Is The End (2013)
"The argument about the porno magazine is so stupidly hilarious that I die every time. It's one of those comedy scenes where half of the hilarity of it is picturing how hard it must have been for them to film the scene without laughing."

3. Pink Panther (2006)
"The back-and-forth with Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau in the 'I would like to buy a hamburger' scene made me laugh so hard that I couldn't breathe the first time I saw it, and it still makes me belly laugh every time."

4. The Princess Bride (1987)
"For me, it's the cliff scene between Inigo Montoya and the Man in Black as he's climbing."

5. What We Do in the Shadows (2014)
"The fight between the vampires and the werewolves. From Viago taking off a glove to slap a werewolf with it to the 'What are we? Werewolves not swear-wolves.' line. I lost it."

6. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
"When Han, Finn, and Chewie are on Starkiller Base to rescue Rey, and Finn doesn't actually have any idea what he's doing, and the conversation culminates into Han Solo telling him 'That's not how the Force works!' And then Chewie says he's cold."

11. Central Intelligence (2016)

14. Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021)
"I can confidently go on the record and say that the airplane scene is easily one of the funniest movie scenes from the last decade. Their entire convo about Trish is so specific and hilarious and exhaustive that you can’t help but laugh. Like, at one point Kristen Wiig’s character casually mentions that she killed a woman named Trish in a hit-and-run, but it’s immediately glossed over for another random Trish fact. The whole thing is just pure comedic genius, and the callback at the end of the movie is perfect too. Simply iconic."

20. Strictly Ballroom (1992)
"A deep cut here, but when Liz is angry at Scott and says, 'I'll tell you what I want! I want Ken Railings to walk in here right now and say, 'Pam Shore’s broken both her legs and I want to dance with you!' Then, Ken flings open the saloon-style doors and says, 'Pam Shore’s broken both her legs, and I want dance with you.' And the little girl says, 'That was unexpected!'"
