The rules here are simple, but this is by no means easy: We will present you with a beloved actor (as well as a couple examples of their filmography), and you'll tell us if you associate them more with comedy or drama!
Ready? I sure hope so! Here we go:
Tom Hanks has starred in both beloved comedies like Big (1988)...
...and award-winning dramas, like Saving Private Ryan (1998).
Whoopi Goldberg has stunned in serious films like The Color Purple (1985)...
...and made us cackle with her comedies, like Sister Act (1992).
Jim Carrey made his bread and butter with comedies like The Mask (1994)...
But there's no denying that he went on to shine in some incredible dramatic roles, like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).
Sandra Bullock has literally won an Oscar for her dramatic chops in The Blind Side (2009)...
...But you still have to admit, she's one funny lady and the queen of rom-coms, like The Proposal (2009) — which came out the same year!
Michelle Yeoh is an absolute legend and my personal favorite actor, partially because of how incredible she is in dramas like Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022)...
...But can balance her skills in a sweet, genuine comedy, as well — sometimes in the same movie!
Keanu Reeves is certainly a comedy king in movies like Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)...
...And he can also star in an action-packed drama, like John Wick (2014), like no one else.
Michaela Coel had one of the single best dramatic performances on TV this decade (you heard me) in I May Destroy You...
...and she also happened to star in one of the funniest TV shows ever made (you still heard me) with Chewing Gum.
There's no denying Robin Williams is maybe the funniest person to ever grace this planet with roles like Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)...
...still, we can't discount his innumerable award-worthy (and winning!) dramatic performances, like his heartfelt role in Good Will Hunting (1997).
Melissa McCarthy has literally been nominated for an Oscar for BOTH her great dramatic performance in Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018)...
...AND her great comedic performance in Bridesmaids (2011)!
And speaking of Oscars, Emma Stone took home Best Actress for her work in La La Land (2016)...
...but she also had us all bustin' a gut in Superbad (2007).
Will Smith was out of this world in comedies like Men in Black (1997)...
...but also tugged at our heartstrings in dramas like The Pursuit of Happyness (2006).
Awkwafina was absolutely incredible in The Farewell (2019)...
...but it's impossible to forget her pitch-perfect performance in Crazy Rich Asians (2018)!
Steve Carell slayed all of us as Michael Scott in The Office...
...but, in the time since, he's really shown he can juggle drama, as well, in films like Foxcatcher (2014).
Olivia Colman was hilarious in Fleabag...
...but she also won an Oscar for her role in The Favourite.
And last but certainly not least, Eddie Murphy has been a comedy king for years in iconic roles like Coming to America (1988)...
...but he's also turned in several incredible dramatic performances, like Dreamgirls (2006).
