The Harriet Tubman Biopic Trailer Is Out And Some People Are Having All The Feels

    "Be free or die."

The trailer for Harriet, the forthcoming biopic about the life of Harriet Tubman, has finally dropped.

Cynthia Erivo plays the titular character and people are already talking Oscar buzz.

Harriet would go on to free 700 slaves while also leading an armed expedition as a member of the Union Army in the Civil War.

Harriet Tubman wasn't just a conductor on the Underground Railroad, she was an armed scout & spy for the Union Army who helped lead a raid on Confederates in SC that freed hundreds of enslaved people. She fought for women's suffrage & founded a home for the elderly. 1/

The movie trailer has also re-ignited talk of that new $20 bill that was supposed to be printed with her image but has since been delayed.

We finally got a Harriet Tubman movie still waiting for her to show up on this $20 bill

Erivo told NME earlier this year, “I think that everyone needs to learn about this woman. There's always a fear when you're portraying a woman who means a great deal to a lot of people, and you want to make sure that you do her justice."

Okay, so we know it’s way too early but… Newsweek notes that if Erivo were to win the Oscar for her role as Harriet, she would be joining the ultra-exclusive EGOT club, as she’s already won a Tony, Grammy and an Emmy for The Color Purple on Broadway.

The movie by Focus Features also stars Janelle Monáe and Leslie Odom Jr. It will be released on Nov. 1.
