I Tried These 37 Products In 2020 And I'll Keep Repurchasing Them Until The End Of Time

I highly recommend trying them in 2021.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. This pair of shampoo brushes that'll give you a spa-level scalp massage while you go through your haircare routine. They have ergonomic handles, making them easy to grip (even when they're covered in suds).

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I use one of these to distribute my hair oils and serums from the roots to the tips of my strands. It helps each one of my tresses get equal product love, not just the top layer (and gives me a bomb scalp massage, too). My boyfriend, on the other hand, uses them both simultaneously like some kind of haircare wolverine to scrub his scalp down and keep dandruff at bay. To be honest, it's hilarious to watch, but it also seems to be working for him.

Get a pack of two on Amazon Canada for $19.97.

    2. A pack of Vancouver-made beeswax wraps that'll eliminate your need for cling film once and for all. They're compostable, reusable, and a lot more eco-friendly than classic plastic wrap.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I have tried my fair share of beeswax wraps, and boy, oh, boy, do I love these ones the best. Not only are they made in Canada, but they're a lot thicker and more mouldable than the other versions I've tried. The design is also painted by the founders mom, which, if we're being honest, is the cutest thing I've heard in my life.

Get a pack of three from Bee Kind for $19.

    3. This Ninja blender that has the power to crush through whole fruits, vegetables, and ice within seconds. Now you can make your own protein shake, instead of spending $15 at your local smoothie bar (no shade, we've all been there).

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I 👏 love 👏 this 👏 blender 👏. I crush a lot of cashews for salad dressings and nut milks and this baby does it with ease. It also comes with three cups, so I don't have to do dishes immediately after making one thing. I can just rinse the blade, switch the cup, and get to blending something else. Speaking of cups, it comes with three, and two of them have sipping lids, so my boyfriend and I can take our smoothies to go. There's also one flat lid, which is great if you want to store your culinary creations in the fridge.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $129.99.

    4. A dual-ended tube of e.l.f lash and brow gel that'll help you achieve a no-makeup makeup look in seconds. It's not sticky at all, but will lift your brow hairs and lashes to the high heavens and keep them there all day long.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

This is my favourite quick-fix product for when I want to feel a little bit more put together, but don't want to go all out with my 52-step beauty routine. It also doesn't leave my hairs feeling crispy or flake off after a few hours of wear.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $2.97.

    5. A stove-cleaning kit that'll make your cooktop look good as new in just a few minutes. Just apply the cream to your burners, wait a few minutes for it to sink in, and then scrub away the gunk with the spongey cleaning tool. For super stubborn messes, you can scrape off build up with the razor.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

It comes with cleaning solution, a razor, and a scrubbing tool. I own this stuff and it works actually magic on stuck-on food and oil splatters. I've seriously never seen my burners look cleaner than they do after using this stuff, and I'm so happy it doesn't cost a fortune (but I'd buy it even if it did).

Get it on Amazon Canada for $9.99. Also available in multipacks.

    6. A pair of Knix leakproof undies that'll be a huge lifesaver when Aunt Flow rolls into town. They're super absorbent and will save you from creating unnecessary waste with tampons and pads.

The three pairs of underwear in their packages surrounded by plants
    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

Before I got my hands on these, I thought they were gonna feel like adult diapers, which is not my vibe. I am happy to report that they are nothing like that. The seamless design doesn't show through my pants and the thong version is great for legging wearers. I can comfortably wear them all night long and my sheets don't have a single speck of blood on them when morning rolls around. Honestly, I don't know why I've been messing around with tampons for so long because these are great.

Get them from Knix for $34+. Available in five styles.

    7. A pack of interdental flossers that have soft nylon bristles and are small enough to fit in your pocket. They're way more effective than traditional floss and are especially great if you have permanent retainers.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

Flossing with permanent retainers is a difficult task, and these little doodads make the process so much less of a hassle. They easily slide under my wires and unstick pesky things (like popcorn kernels) without much work. I don't know what magic they were blessed with, but they don't make my gums bleed the way regular floss does, either (I have a very sensitive mouth). One last thing: they're über flexible, but don't break easily, so you can do a bit of brushing between your teeth without worrying about the bristles snapping off.

Get a pack of eight on Amazon Canada for $4.78. Available in five colours.

    8. A hand-operated label maker that you can use to mark your territory (buzz off, roommates) and keep your entire pantry organized. With a quick flex of your palm, it'll print out aesthetically-pleasing little labels that'll make your storage boxes, meal prep containers, and everything in between Pinterest-worthy.

    Alice Prendergast/BuzzFeed

There is nothing that satisfies me more than an organized home, and this Dymo Label maker has helped me achieve that. It prints out aesthetically pleasing little labels that you can use on storage boxes, meal prep containers, and everything in between. I especially like using it for my spice containers, pantry jars, makeup storage, and plant pots (so I know exactly what's growing where). Unlike most electronic printers, this handheld device punches the letters into the stickers, which (in my humblest of opinions) is a lot prettier than an Arial font on a plain white background. Pro tip: If you want the text to be clear, you have to press the handle a little harder, but it takes very little effort (I promise, I am really lazy and would not use it otherwise).

Get it on Amazon Canada for $19.99.

    9. A bottle of seaweed-infused soil enhancer that's packed with deep-sea nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Consider this treating your indoor garden to a sushi dinner, every week — they will love you for it.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I have a lot of plants, and many of them are demanding. Since I can admittedly be a bit of neglectful plant parent, I like to have a few secret weapons at my disposal that can bring my babies back to life when I've forgotten to water them for a few days (or weeks). This stuff does WONDERS. My monstera is absolutely obsessed with it and has since spawned several monstera babies thanks to its magic.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $13.90+. Available in three sizes.

    10. A Nintendo Switch Lite that'll provide hours upon hours of fun, so you'll never be bored again. It's small enough to pop in your bag, so you can take it with you on road trips and cottage adventures.

A person holding the Nintendo Switch in front of plants
    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I love playing games, but I find a lot of handheld systems too bulky for my liking. This model is great because it doesn’t have joy-cons that slide off like the original and is a little less weighty, making it easier to tote around. It'll also save you a bit of money (it's over $100 less!).

Get it on Amazon Canada for $259.96. Available in four colours.

    11. A bottle of Canadian-made Heartbeat hot sauce that'll give blander dishes the kick they need, without setting your mouth on fire.

    Alice Prendergast/BuzzFeed

I'm a big hot sauce fanatic — like, I could drink it straight out of the bottle and be happy about it. I have a few options in my fridge that are so dang spicy, I'm pretty confident they were forged depths of hell, but, hey, that's my jam. These ones by Heartbeat are a nice option for when I still want to feel my tastebuds after a meal. The red habanero is my go-to for tacos and breakfast scrambies, and I love the pineapple-infused one for burgers. They're also made in Canada, which is pretty neat.

Get it from Amazon Canada for $14.99 (available in four flavours and in three- or six-packs).

    12. This plush fleece blanket that's probably softer than anything in your current collection. It'll also cover up your ratty old bedspread and leave your room looking effortlessly chic.

    Alice Prendergast/BuzzFeed

My partner hates the fact that I hog every throw blanket in the house, so he insisted I hunt down one that was large enough for the two of us. I found this ultra-fluffy Bedsure one after a bit of scrolling on Amazon Canada, and wowee, do I ever love it. I got the largest size, so it comfortably covers both of us and our dog. It's, like, unbelievably soft, warm, but somehow lightweight, too. I comes with me from our couch to our bed every night, so needless to say I will be purchasing another. In what colour? Who knows. There are 21 shades available and I'm seriously having a tough time deciding.

Get it from Amazon Canada for $26.99. Available in four sizes and 21 colours.

    13. A 2-in-1 fabric shaver and lint roller that'll help remove pilled-up fabric and fuzz from your clothes. You can also use it on linens, like your fleece bedsheets, which is obviously a major win.

    Alice Prendergast/BuzzFeed

I have a dog that sheds, and about a billion blankets that also shed. While those things are great for me, they are not great for my couch. I bought this lil' doodad to help me de-fluff and remove all the annoying pills from my sofa, and boy does it ever work. It has a razor head on one end (along with three interchangeable razors of varying intensities) that I use to scrape away pills, and a classic velvety lint brush on the other. It's worked serious wonders on my furniture and I've even moved on to brushing down my crewneck collection with it.

Get it from Amazon Canada for $19.99+. Available in five colours.

    14. A cold therapy ice roller that'll de-puff your skin and wake you up in the morning. I use mine to combat migraines, and it works better than any pain-relieving technique I've tried.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I'm obsessed with my ice roller. Like, I have recommended this to so many people I have lost count. It's great for cooling down when it feels like a sauna outside, it helps wake me up in the morning, and it saves me when I have a migraine. Unlike jade and quartz rollers, the roll-y part is made of gel, so when you pop it in the freezer it actually gets cold and stays cold for a loooooong time. It's also a lot larger than those doodads, so you can cover larger parts of your body, like your thighs and stomach (not just your under-eye area). TL;DR: Everybody needs to buy one of these immediately.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $15.97. Available in six colours.

    15. A pack of nutrient-dense fertilizer spikes that are packed with vitamins to keep your greenery happy and healthy. They can even help revive those on the verge of death and save you from unnecessary plant funerals.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I love my plants, but sometimes I'm not the best mom to them. I forget to feed them on occasion and these little spikes give them a boost when I've been a neglectful plant parent. Using them is simple: Just dig a hole with the plastic tool, shove in a plant spike, cover it with soil, and let it work its magic.

Get a pack of 24 spikes on Amazon Canada for $10.33.

    16. A jar of cult-favourite Aztec Secret bentonite clay mask that will suck every last bit of gunk out of your pores in under 20 minutes (and make you look like a swamp monster). You can also use it as a spot treatment, if you don't want to cover your whole face.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

This mask is made of bentonite clay and it sucks everything out of your pores – like, EVERYTHING. Using it is simple: you mix the powdery clay with equal parts water or apple cider vinegar (I like to do a combo of the two), and apply it to your face as you would any other face mask. When this stuff starts to dry you are in for an experience. It freezes your face in place and tightens up every pore, and makes you seriously look like a lizard queen (see above photo for reference). I’ll be honest with you, the feeling is not that pleasant, but hold on – the end result is worth it. You can also just do spot treatments if you don't want to cover your whole face. Check out our full review of the Aztec Secret mask to see before and after pics.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $19.95. Also available in a larger size.

    17. A set of resistance bands that'll help you get the booty of your dreams, without having to leave the comfort of your own home. Just turn the volume up on your favourite feel-good playlist and get to squatting.

The set of three peach bands lying on a workout mat
    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

These are made of thick fabric, meaning they don't slip and slide around while I'm jumping around in HIIT exercises. They're also super comfortable and the three resistance levels work perfectly for different types of moves (for example, I use the heavy band for squats and the light one for kickbacks). You can also use them to help with mobility, if your arms are feeling a bit stiff.

Get a set of three bands from Amazon Canada for $27.99.

    18. A bottle of The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% solution that'll help banish annoying breakouts and balance your skin. If pimples tend to pop up around your period, consider this your knight in shining armour.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I thought I'd gotten rid of my hormonal acne but hahaha joke's on me, it's reared it's ugly head again in 2020 (honestly, very appropriate for this year). This solution balances sebum and clears congested pores, leaving my skin with not but one zit, even when Aunt Flow rolls into town. It also takes, like, five seconds to sink in, so I can happily continue on with my skincare routine right after applying it.

Get it from Sephora Canada for $5.90.

    19. A pack of all-natural boot-cleaning cloths that are powerful enough to remove even the toughest stains. They're also great for jackets and handbags, so go ahead and wipe down your whole wardrobe with 'em.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I put my shoes through the wringer, and got to the point where I just couldn't take the look of dirty sneaks and destroyed boots any longer. Luckily, I discovered these boot wipes. They work on suede, rubber, fabric, and nubuck, meaning you can use them on pretty much everything in your wardrobe, which is awesome. They made my Blundstones look brand new and are great for removing scuff marks from sneakers. Basically, if your shoe collection is looking a little neglected, you could probably benefit from a pack of these.

Get a pack of ten for $8.99. Also available in a pack of 15.

    20. A set of transparent, coiled hair ties that'll keep your hair free of crazy crimps and tangles, and won't cause breakage when you slide them off. They also look cuter than classic hair ties when you rock them on your wrists.

A hand holding several of the clear, coiled hair ties
    Alice Prendergast/BuzzFeed

When it comes to hair ties, I'm a pretty picky person. I hate the classic ties that dig into your wrists and I wouldn't be caught dead with a regular o'l elastic in my ponytail. However, my hair is super fine, meaning it slips out of almost anything I put in it, so just any old alternative won't do. Insert: Kitsch hair ties. These coiled ties wrap around my tresses and actually stay put until I'm ready to let down my locks (you know, like Rapunzel). Also, they don't leave indents in my hair, which is a blessing since my hair is very prone to getting bent out of shape.

Get a set of eight from Amazon Canada for $9.99.

    21. This budget-friendly nail cream that'll make your talons longer and stronger than ever before. It can also be used to moisturize your hands and dry, calloused feet, if that's something you struggle with.

A person holding a tub of nail cream
    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I bought this because the winter got the best of my nails, leaving me with hangnails galore. I actually saw results after one use, and now my nails are tough enough to not break every time I crack open my laptop and start typing (an actual problem I was having).

Get it on Amazon Canada for $11.95. Also available in a larger size.

    22. A bottle of stain and odour eliminator that'll get rid of pet messes and smells in just a few spritzes, so your home stays fresh 'n' clean. It works on pee, poop, vomit, and pretty much every other gross thing your pet does.

A bottle of odor destroyer being held up in front of a sleeping puppy
    Amazon / Via amazon.ca

I've been fostering a puppy and this has really helped manage the messes she makes around the house. She's peed on the couch and carpeted stairs a few times and this stuff is a real and true lifesaver. It leaves everything smelling fresh and eliminates dark circles around accidents, too.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $9.99. Available in three scents.

    23. A Click and Grow indoor garden that'll help you create a super low-maintenance herb and vegetable patch inside your apartment. Now you can feel like a seasoned botanist without even getting your hands dirty.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I have one of these and it's super simple to use, even if you don't have a green thumb. Just drop the included plant pods, fill it with water, plug it in, and let it get down to business. It only took a few weeks for my lettuce and basil to be harvestable and now, after a couple months of patience, my tomatoes are starting to bloom. I love it because a) it makes me feel like a successful gardener b) thanks to the reservoir, my plants won't die if I forget to water them for weeks, and c) now I have fresh herbs at my disposal at all times.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $259.95. Also available in grey and in a smaller size. It comes with three basil plant pods, three tomato plant pods, and three lettuce plant pods, but you can purchase different varieties, too.

    24. A bottle of antioxidant-rich throat spray that's made of bee propolis (a 100% natural compound produced by bees) and will help soothe your sore throat. It doesn't have any added sugar, but tastes sweet, so you won't gag when you use it.

A person holding a bottle of throat relief spray
    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I started using this stuff when I was working at a health food store in university and haven't stopped. While it hasn't cured any of my sicknesses completely (I turn to modern medicine for that), it does help ease my sore throat when I feel a cold coming on. Also, it tastes good enough to use even when I'm not sick, so I don't dread it like I do Buckleys.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $16.48.

    25. A liquid eyeliner pen from Rare Beauty that'll help you achieve a cat eye that's sharp as a knife (thanks, Selena). It'll stay put all day long, so you won't have to worry about one wing magically vanishing while you're out and about.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I wear liquid eyeliner every single day (yes, even in quarantine), so I consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to this stuff. I find most liners fade or bleed throughout the day, but this one definitely does not. The felt tip makes it a cinch to apply, so you can achieve a wing in one easy swoop.

Get it from Sephora Canada for $25.

    26. This Canadian-made maple syrup candle that smells like a sugar shack in Quebec. It's made of soy wax and has a wooden wick, so it's safer and more eco-friendly than synthetic alternatives.

A person holding the candle in front of a plant
    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

This candle smells, like, stupid good. I love that it's not sickly sweet, like all those vanilla and pumpkin spice scents you see in department stores. It also looks really great in my living room, thanks to the vintage-style tin.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $27.98.

    27. A bottle of Verb Ghost Oil that's infused with bamboo extract, moringa seed oil, and argan oil to strengthen your locks and minimize frizz. It's thicker than most hair serums, and delivers some serious hydrating results with just a few pumps.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

When I bleached my hair, it was completely busted. It broke every time I brushed it and basically looked like one of those tumbleweeds you see in an old western movie every time I blowdried it — until I found this. It's thicker than most oils (a bit lighter than the consistency of gel) and combs through hair like a dream. It packs in moisture like nobody's business and also smells freaking amazing.

Get it from Sephora Canada for $20.

    28. A keyboard cover that'll keep your computer safe from dust, drips, and spills. All the essential keyboard shortcuts (like screenshot and search bar) are colour coded, so you'll never have to turn to Google for help again.

    Alice Prendergast/BuzzFeed

Because I love to snack while I work, I am horrible at keeping my computer clean. That means a keyboard protector is almost essential. This one is super light and doesn't move around my keys when I'm typing. It also has all the essential keyboard shortcuts (like screenshot and search bar) colour coded, so never have to Google how to do specific commands. It may not be the prettiest thing in the world, but boy, does it ever come in handy.

Get it from Amazon Canada for $8.99. Compatible with most MacBooks.

    29. A set of heat-resitant silicone spatulas that won't scratch your cookware. I love them because you can leave them sitting in piping hot pots and pans and not worry about them melting into your food.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

My boyfriend used to get enraged with me because I constantly left utensils in hot pans while cooking. To be fair, I've melted at least four spatulas in our kitchen, so he had a reason to be salty. To save us from dueling to the death, he bought this set of silicone spatulas. It comes with three different-sized spatulas, plus a spreader, which is great for icing baked goods. Now we can happily coexist in the kitchen without him following me around removing tools from various pots and pans.

Get a set of four on Amazon Canada for $17.49. Also available in packs of three and six.

    30. A Tower 28 lip jelly, if you're tired of the matte lip trend and prefer the look of a plumper, juicier pout. The formula is oil based, meaning you won't have to deal with the dreaded stickiness of a traditional gloss.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

Until recently, I was not a gloss gal. In fact, I was not a lip product gal at all (besides balm). But let me tell you, things have changed! I am obsessed with these lip jellies. They keep my cracked, chapped lips soothed and the colours are great. I am not lying when I say I am going to purchase every single one because they are so dang pretty.

Get it from Sephora Canada for $18. Available in ten colours.

    31. This measuring cup that has the measurements written on the inside and outside, so you can clearly see how much you're pouring. It's made of plastic, so it won't shatter into a million pieces if you knock it off your countertop.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

You know what sucks about baking? Getting down to eye level with your measuring cup every time to see whether you've actual hit the one-cup line. This solves that problem by listing measurements on both the inside and outside of the cup. Now I don't have to do a squat to ensure that I actually poured out enough milk or flour.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $15.69.

    32. A genius split extension cord that reaches six feet on both sides, so you and your partner will have equal access to a power source when you're in bed. Now you won't have to create a chain of cords to light up the lamps on your bedside tables.

Forgive me for these photos because this thing is impossible to take a picture of when it's in action. You plug the centre of it into an outlet behind your bed (or sofa) and the two extension cords split from the centre, so you and your partner both have ample space to plug in your doodads on either side. I used to have to give my boyfriend my phone and charger to plug in on his side of the bed every night, but now I have my own outlet and can happily scroll through Instagram with a fully-charged device until the wee hours of the morning. Each side has three two-prong outlets.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $17.11.

    33. A fluffy microfibre duster that'll trap all those pesky dirt particles, leaving your space cleaner than ever. If you've been sneezing up a storm thanks to all the gross stuff floating around your home, it may be time to invest in one of these.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I turned on the heating in my apartment for the first time this year (I hate that statement as much as you do) and was treated to the not-so-lovely smell of stale dust cooking in my vents. I knew I had to solve this problem before it got too cold, so I purchased this microfibre duster. It gets all up in the small nooks and crannies of my ventilation system and is great for wiping dust off my TV, too. To make things even better, when it gets super dirty, I can just slide the microfibre cloth off the handle and throw it in the washing machine.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $18.99.

    34. This adjustable gel pack that'll help you ease your aches and pains. It can be used hot or cold, and secures with Velcro, so it won't slide off while you're using it.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I recently had a deep-tissue massage and my RMT kindly told me my muscles hate me (in a nicer way than that, obviously). To ease the pain in my hands and wrists, they recommended applying heat regularly. While baths are great, I can't sit in one forever, so I bought this. I just pop the gel pack in the microwave, stick it to the band (it attaches with Velcro strips), and wrap it around my wrist to ease the pain. It also works as an ice pack and is the perfect size to use on your feet and forehead, too.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $14.99.

    35. A pack of Velcro cord ties to organize all those wires and doodads that are currently floating around your junk drawer. They're a lot more effective than rubber bands and zip ties, and are easy to adjust and remove.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

I am basically the queen of getting wires tangled. From headphones to computer cords, everything I owned used to have at least one knot in it — until I bought these babies. They've helped me keep everything that's not currently in use perfectly wrapped. Not only is this more convenient for me, but it extends the lives of my cords because I no longer spend minutes yanking at them.

Get a pack of 25 ties on Amazon Canada for $8.83. Also available in grey and in larger packs.

    36. This NYX brow pencil that'll fill in your sparse brows, making them look fuller and fluffier than ever. It has a spoolie on the opposite end, so you can blend out any harsh lines.

    Alice Prendergast / Via Buzzfeed

I have dark but sparse brows, so filling them in is pretty much necessary. I love how fine the tip on this crayon is because it actually allows me to draw in little hairs, instead of colouring my brows in like blocks. The spoolie is also great for brushing away mistakes and harsh lines when I've gone in too heavy handedly.

Get it on Amazon Canada for $12. Available in seven shades.

    37. A pack of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sheets that'll make cleaning up messes in hard-to-reach places a lot easier. They're more flexible than the OG Magic Eraser, meaning they can get them into tinier nooks and crannies.

    Alice Prendergast / Via BuzzFeed

They're great for messes in microwaves, stoves, bathrooms, and pretty much everywhere else in your home. I recently dyed my hair and, because I'm messy, got splotches all over my sink, floor, and walls. You know what helped me get rid of all those unwanted marks? One of these babies.

Get a pack of eight on Amazon Canada $2.98. Also available in a pack of 16 sheets.
