So on Tuesday, Uruguay's Luis Suarez appeared to bite Italian defender Girogio Chiellini.
The incident occurred just before Uruguay scored the only goal of the game, guaranteeing their progression out of the group stages and sending Italy out of the World Cup.
After the game Chiellini called Suarez a "sneak" and accused the referee of seeing the "bite mark" but deciding not to take action.
This is the third biting incident Suarez has been involved in after being banned for seven games for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal while at Ajax in 2010 and then 10 games in April 2013 after biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.

While it took a while for Fifa to confirm disciplinary proceedings had been opened, the internet was quick to make fun of the situation.
