This "Save The ABC" Petition Will Stab At Your Heart

The senior government minister moves petition ahead of massive cuts being announced

Senior Government Minister Christopher Pyne has launched an online petition to save the ABC from cuts in South Australia at the same time as his government swings the axe on the organisation.

The Change.org petition titled "The ABC must not close its production house in Adelaide" launched yesterday could be seen as a bid to place responsibility for program cuts on the organisation's management.

"The Board must reassure South Australians that the local TV production house of the ABC will remain in South Australia," it reads.

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull has previously told the public that cuts to programs should be blamed on the ABC board, not the government.

The programs Mr Pyne wants to keep in his home state include, "The Cook and The Chef, Poh’s Kitchen, Dream Build, the Karta orang-utan documentary at Adelaide Zoo and The Beatles 50th anniversary tour documentary".

ABC employees immediately spotted what Mr Pyne was trying to do and were not impressed.
