I actually stopped watching after the 2nd or 3rd episode when they added the Ike Barinholtz character. I was loving the show — so fresh, unique, and funny. Then suddenly they added this stock “quirky,” totally unrealistic sitcom character in order to appeal to those who were too dumb to appreciate the show’s genius. Seemed like a cop-out to me.

Harold - your comments have some validity, but the tone is off-putting. In psychology, we often focus on having our clients engage in “behavioral activation,” the principles of which are similar to what you are describing. However, I am not sure you are quite appreciating how incredibly difficult it is for someone with depression to even begin to take those first steps.
