If you'll notice, they do this when one word ends with a vowel and the next word starts with a vowel. People from Boston do this, too (i.e., JFK saying, "Cubar is...") I don't know why, though. I'm sure there's a linguistic reason, though.
A string walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender says, "We don't serve strings here." So, the string goes outside and twists himself up and ruffles his hair. He walks back in and orders a drink and the bartender says, "Hey, aren't you that string that was just in here?"…Â
That really isn't the point of the original riddle. The original riddle played on sexism to make it harder for people to answer it. It wasn't trying to make a point so much as trying to make it a trick question.
