It's time that all Australians face the cold hard truth- Darwin is the greatest city in the whole country. 2. For some reason, people seem to think that Melbourne or Sydney are superior. They are WRONG. And here's why. 3. Darwin is AWESOME. It has the most beautiful sunsets in Australia- quite possibly in the world. 4. Though there is only about 146,000 people who live there, you'd have to be pretty silly to call it boring. 5. Darwin is one of Australia's most modern cities because it has been rebuilt twice. 6. A third of Darwinians speak a language other than English. 7. Plus, the beaches are unforgettable. 8. Oh, and remember what we said before about sunsets? Yeah. Does Sydney get beach sunsets? 9. The Mindil Beach sunset is certifiably the best in Australia. Especially with half a dozen oysters. View this photo on Instagram 10. Plus Darwin has a perfect looking harbour. 11. Though it was once known as the last frontier of the Northern Territory, it's now a cosmopolitan city filled with cool bars and restaurants. 12. Parap, Nightcliff, Mindil Beach, Rapid Creek all host incredible weekly markets. The smoothies are peerless. 13. After the markets you can always hit the waterfront for some sunbaking and afternoon beers. View this photo on Instagram 14. Many people don't know that Darwin has a wave pool. Dry season means catching the sunset and Sunday night movie at the Deckchair Cinema. 17. The city has over 600 hectares of parks, so you can enjoy the beautiful weather. 18. There are so many (croc free) places to swim and escape the heat. 19. Like the Buley Rockholes! View this photo on Instagram 20. Or go a bit further downstream at the awe-inspiring Florence Falls. And the population density is only 0.1 person per square kilometre, so there's never too many people up in your grill. 23. Despite the small population, Darwin is home to over 60 different nationalities. 24. Darwin is on the doorstep of Asia meaning incredible local food! You'll never eat a better laksa. 25. You can catch a ridiculously high quality game of footy in Darwin. View this photo on Instagram 26. And there's so much to do outside of the city as well: swimming, fishing, hiking, bird-watching. 27. You can also pop outside town and hit up the Noonamah Tavern. If you're lucky enough the rodeo will be on! View this photo on Instagram 28. Or just stay in the city and enjoy one of the dozens of breathtaking beaches. 29. The East Point bike and walking track is one of the most beautiful trails in the world. 30. And when the afternoon storm comes in you'll have a front row seat. View this photo on Instagram 31.
