"Canada: the country you think about so little... that's it, end of sentence." That's how John Oliver opened a segment of his HBO show dedicated to telling Americans about our election.

1. When he made fun of the fact that we think a 78-day campaign is super long. "Thinking 78 days is a long campaign is absolutely adorable. It's like a woman who’s only seen one penis saying, 'It's like the longest one ever.'"
2. When he talked about peegate and said: "It's surprising Canada was so shocked about urine in a mug, considering that's what Labatt Blue tastes like."
3. When he talked about the NDP candidate who didn't know what Auschwitz was, and who said an electrified fence post at the camp looked phallic. Oliver pointed out that she serves on a school board — and said this is a history textbook used in her district.
4. When he referred to Tom Mulcair as "Paul Giamatti's uncle."
5. When he reminded us that Justin Trudeau likes to pretend to fall down stairs as a party trick.
6. When he also reminded us that Stephen Harper plays in a band called the "Van Cats." The name is a play on the French word for the number 24 as a reference to 24 Sussex Dr., the prime minster's residence.
7. And when he said he'd break the law that prevents non-Canadians from directing Canadians how to vote. It carries a fine of $5,000 and up to six months in jail. Oliver grabbed some money and proceeded to break the law "in the most Canadian way possible."
8. He got a beaver to play "Sweet Caroline" on the piano, just like Harper did with his band.
9. And brought out a moose who was getting a colonoscopy "under Canada's fantastic single-payer healthcare system."
10. Then — then — he brought out Mike Myers dressed as a Mountie riding a snowplow.
11. Finally, they made it rain $5,000 in colourful Canadian currency while telling people not to vote for Stephen Harper.
