Meet Derrick Bell

BuzzFeed earlier today posted video of a young Barack Obama speaking at a 1991 rally backing Professor Derrick Bell's call for diversity on Harvard Law School's tenured faculty, and Breitbart.com has promised more video on the theme. Here's an introduction to Bell, a controversial academic figure who argued that questions or race and power should be central to the law. His criticism at times extended to other African-American academics, and remarked controversially at one point that "the ends of diversity are not served by persons who look black and think white." Here are five videos of Bell, who died last October.

iPad Counter-Programming: Really, Truly Horrible Online Dating Stories

We don't really plan to do the crazy-tech-news-crush thing very often, but Apple product announcements are like once-in-a-lifetime events--they only happen every six months. (Sorry!) So read this: a collection of online dating horror stories. Nothing more human in technology than that.

25 People Who've Said That Siri Is Their Best Friend

Minutes ago, Tim Cook was quoted as saying "Siri is your new best friend." This was met with much snark among techies and internet folk, but you'd be surprised how many people have actually made this remark in complete seriousness. Here are 25 of them.

Mitt Romney, Comeback Kid?

A campaign aide boasts that Romney has overcome huge poll deficits from Florida to Ohio. An upbeat spin on the Death Star.

"Community" Bite-Sized Animated Shorts Are Live

Abed has the power of the Master Key. New live action episodes don't start until March 15th, but these weekly shorts should tide us over and assuage fears of last second cancellation.

Ukulele iPad App

Futulele works on an iPad alone or with a special case that holds both iPad and iPhone. That's cool and all, but I have a feeling it might just be cheaper to buy a ukulele.

How Not to Announce Your Tech Product

There's no worse time to make a tech announcement than on the day of an Apple event. Here are 13 companies that are doing it anyway.

The cost is high. But it's not about logic, or even winning, any more.

In Oklahoma, Even Democrats Hate Obama

They showed up to vote against the president. Obama lost several counties to anti-abortion activist Randall Terry — who picked up a delegate, and called Dave Weigel to gloat — and ended the night with just 55% of the vote in an effectively uncontested primary. Yikes.

Santorum Will Try To Kill Romney With RomneyCare

Why Is Barack Obama Winning Ohio?

In the early Super Tuesday results, Obama has more votes than all the Republican rivals combined — even though there's no Democratic primary. That could be a good sign for him in November. But it may have more to do with where the earliest votes are coming from: The Democratic stronghold of Cuyahoga County, where Democrats are turning out to vote in Congressional primaries.

"Shut Up, Ann..."

BuzzFeed didn't overhear this conversation between Mitt and Ann Romney, but after she got in trouble earlier this week for saying that she "didn't even consider herself wealthy," we're going to pretend we did.
