10 Celebs Wearing H&M’s New Weird Margiela Line

Including Kanye West, presumably just so that people could ask him, “what’s that jacket?” HAR HAR.

I know, right? Now tell your friends!
10 Celebs Wearing H&M's New Weird ...

On Tuesday night H&M celebrated the imminent arrival to stores of its one-off collection by fashion house Maison Martin Margiela by dressing a bunch of celebrities in the clothes. Because nothing makes clothes look good like celebrities!!! …right? Well, let’s see…

2. Mena Suvari

Mena got to wear the skintight nude body suit that makes it look like you’re just wearing a backless, strapless black bra.

She did not get to wear it with the huge washed out jeans that are also part of the line.

4. This is how it looks in H&M’s catalog:

The bodysuit can be yours for $40; the jeans are $70. Mena’s skirt is $99 and her shoes with the clear heels are $299.

5. Supermodel Maryna Linchuk, on the other hand, got to wear the jeans.

She is one of the hottest women alive (I know that because she does the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which gets to decide such things). How do you think the jeans work with/against her blessed genes?

That suede jacket is also part of the line, and yours for $299; the sneakers are $129.

6. Leigh Lezark

Leigh got to wear the blouse and skirt combo that look very robe-like and comfy and arguably better than they do in the catalog, which didn’t quite convince me this was an “outside of the house” look.

The silk top is $149, the skirt is $129.

8. Julianne Moore

Julianne played it safe in a black pantsuit, which is pretty disappointing because: 1) If there ever was an event to look weird at, this was it, and 2) She could have worn that jacket with ginormo pants that she could have used to smuggle cats in:

9. From H&M’s look book:

I love the jacket ($99) buttoned at the lapel. The pants are $129.

10. Doutzen Kroes

Obviously she WINS because she has a very serious animal’s face on her tee-shirt. I’m unclear on what she’s wearing that’s from the Margiela x H&M line but again, who cares? Because: ANIMAL TEE.

11. Selma Blair

She got what LOOKS like a huge bedsheet, the black version of this dress from the H&M line:

As you can see it has a sleeve that just hangs there for decoration instead of clothing one of your arms. It has the same effect as a brooch, really. Get your sleeve-tumor dress for $199 at H&M.

13. Hanne Gaby Odiele

Hanne Gaby Odiele is one of the top runway models working today. How do you like this interesting-looking color-blocked sweater on her with the nippled elbows?

The “trouser skirt” Hanne wore is $199 and the “circle shirt” here is $79.95. “Glove bag” is $49.95.

15. Stella Tennant

This supermodel got the honor of wearing the oversized turtleneck, which is ideal for holiday-season bloating if nothing else.

The turtleneck is $149 and the glove bag is also $149.

17. Kanye West

Looking slightly upset (but maybe that’s just his resting face) Kanye attended the soirée wearing a coat and jeans from the line, but did not, for some reason, wear the vest shown in the catalog with this stuff. Maybe Kim Kardashian stole it to wear to her next Sears appearance.

The wool coat is $199; painted vest is $60; painted jeans are $99; “hand-painted ankle boot[s]” are $299; and the “hand-painted belt” is $60.

19. Sarah Jessica Parker

I don’t know if she’s wearing anything from the Margiela x H&M line or not, but whatever she’s wearing it’s the best outfit of the night. Maybe that’s because she went with her gut instead of feeling like she had to go berserk for H&M’s Margiela line, which is how the fashion industry, for better or worse, has conditioned us to feel about these collections.

H&M’s Margiela line hits select stores on November 15; see more from the line on Fashionologie.
