"I raise my hand in humility and volunteer to break the chain. Those who know me, know that wherever I go, I try to create branches to hold onto, bridges to meet on for all marginalized communities."

As you might know, more than 100,000 Palestinians have been reportedly killed, wounded, or are missing in a response attack from the devastating events of Oct. 7, in which 1,200 Israelis (mostly civilians) were reportedly killed in attacks by Hamas.

As global outpouring continues in support for Palestinians (including within Israel), celebrities and public figures have suffered consequences for participating.

Additionally, celebrities like Amy Schumer, Noah Schnapp, and Sarah Silverman have also faced backlash for voicing support for Israel's campaign of attacks against the Palestinian people.

Most recently, Selma came under fire after leaving a comment on an IG video posted by lawyer Abraham Hamra criticizing US Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush's challenge against a measure that would prevent anyone involved in the Oct. 7 attacks from immigrating to the US.

"Deport all these terrorist-supporting goons," Selma's response read. "Islam has destroyed Muslim countries, and then they come here and destroy minds. They know they are liars. Twisted justifications. May they meet their fate."

Following deactivating her Twitter account after receiving so much backlash for her comment, the Legally Blonde actor returned to Instagram and issued a lengthy apology for her anti-Islam remark.

"This is a time of great pain and anguish for many around the world, but it is also a time to learn and better understand how words matter," she began.

The Cruel Intentions actor acknowledged that her words have upset the Muslim community. "Hate and misinformation are amplified so easily these days. This time by my own hands," Selma wrote. "In this instance, I erred in my writing, and I fully recognize how I contributed to the Muslim community being understandably very upset."

Selma stated that she "respect[s] and love[s] all peace-loving communities all over the world," and it was her Muslim friends who educated her of the error in her judgment.

"I apologize to those in the Muslim community who I offended with my words. I apologize to my friends. And I apologize to anyone I hurt. And I will do better," Selma continued. She ended the apology, "With appreciation, love and respect. Selma."
