Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum will announce that he is suspending his presidential campaign at a news conference this afternoon, two aides confirm to BuzzFeed.
Behind in the polls and caring for a sick child, pressure has increased on Santorum to quit the race over the past several days.
One Santorum aide says he was informed of the decision earlier this morning, but was not sure when the decision was made.
NBC News reported that Santorum called Romney this morning to inform him of his decision.
