23 Ways To Feel More Like An Adult This Month

Fall is coming — the crops have matured and so have you.

We hope you love the products we recommend! Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. Motivate yourself by reading a book on how to get up earlier and live your most productive life — it just might turn you into a morning person.

My S.O. (who is definitely NOT a morning person) recently picked this book up and said it was totally life-changing. He used to have trouble getting up on time but since reading the book, he's been up at least an hour or two earlier (anytime between 6 a.m.–7:30 a.m.; he used to have a hard time waking up at 8 a.m.!) every day. I flipped through it myself, and it's definitely a self-help book with self-help-style language, but Elrod presents obvious ideas (and not-so-obvious ones) in a way that really drives the point home. Even I, a huge skeptic, had to admit it was a motivating read.

Promising review: "This book really did change my life. I used to just sleep in as much as I could in the morning because I was constantly on the go, busy with everything, and mornings just seemed like valuable sleep time to me. I honestly am so much more efficient now it’s unbelievable. I have more time now than I ever did, and I've really organized my life by making the most of my mornings. Highly recommend getting this even if you’re skeptical because it will change your life." —Mrs. Acklin

Get it from Amazon for $9.66+ (or read for free with Kindle Unlimited).

    2. Declutter your spice drawer with a pack of liners so you can actually find the ingredients you need and see what you're running low on.

These liners are meant to fit 24 full-size round or square spice bottles.

Promising review: "This is one of my favorite things I've ever purchased from Amazon! They are so customizable and allow you to cut them and shape them to any drawer size! I think this will be my go-to gift for all of my friends who love cooking as much as I do. Freeing up cabinet space and having something that can so easily be rinsed off in the sink makes this a for-sure buy!" —momonono

    Get a six-pack from Amazon for $12.99.

    3. Save closet space by hanging multiple tops on a non-slip tree hanger.,

    Each hanger has six tiers.

Promising review: "I don't even want to imagine how much closet space I would lose if not for these blouse tree hangers. I have two of them: one of them holds my cardigans and the other holds my camis. It did not make any sense to me to give each cardigan and each cami its own hanger. I also didn't want to fold them and have them tucked away in the drawers. This blouse tree just made the most sense as they would hang freely grouped with other like items, and I wouldn't have to worry about misplaced colors or ironing out the wrinkles. The hook itself doesn't swivel which is fine, but each branch of the blouse tree does swivel up and down at a 360-degree angle outward and back; so you can move it in either direction so as to avoid having to take out the whole hanger just for the removal of one blouse. The hanger itself is pretty sturdy, quality is not even a question here. I don't suspect it could possibly fall apart in any way because it's so well-built. But since it does hold up to six items, it could get heavy depending on what you put on it. I'm currently running out of closet space and am considering buying another one for my button-ups, leaving hangers and room for six more tops. ;) $7–8 is a small price to pay, and it's so worth it." —DSharifeh

Get it from Amazon for $5.67.

    4. Schedule in a "fall cleaning" session after reading an ultimate guide to cleaning your entire home.

    Zoë Burnett / BuzzFeed

This cleaning guide covers the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms.

    5. Polish your devices, camera lenses, and glasses with a pack of microfiber cloths to get rid of grime and fingerprints.,

Promising review: "This cloth is amazing! We have tried all sorts of cleaners, and they made our TV so much worse. Then, while searching Amazon to find yet another 'good' cleaner, I came upon these. No cleaner necessary it says, and they were so right! It was that instant gratification you get when you buff the wax off your car. I will be giving these as Christmas gifts for sure!" —Lane

    Get a two-pack from Amazon for $5.99.

    6. Stay hydrated with a pretty glass tumbler that comes with a reusable straw.

Promising review: "Oh my goodness, I can't say enough good things about these tumblers! We initially bought a few to have around the house. We thought they would encourage us to drink more water. Since then, we've been giving them to friends as gifts, and everyone is raving about them. I've even brought one to work, and my coworkers keep stopping by to pick it up and admire it! The silicone, wood, and glass parts are all very well-made — thick, sturdy, and beautiful. Every piece comes apart for easy hand-washing. The silicone jacket keeps the glass from sweating, and it makes it easy to grip and carry. The silicone seal under the wood lid is removable and seals nicely to the glass to protect from 1) major spills, and 2) things dropping into the tumbler when outside. The straw is sturdy, too, and is easily washable with a straw brush." —Stevi88

Get it from Amazon for $9.71+ (available in four colors).

    7. Or, if you own a stainless steel travel mug, remove tea and coffee stains on the inside with natural cleaning tablets — no scrubbing required.,

These were seen on Shark Tank.

Promising review: "I wasn't sure if this was a gimmick or not. Turns out it works really well. I have four metal thermos-like containers that are used to keep tea warm every day. Over time, the tea stained the insides and was very difficult to remove. I added one of these tablets to the container, filled it with hot water, and let it sit for a few hours. When I came back to rinse it out, I was literally amazed at how clean it was. I think it looked cleaner than when they were new. I called my wife over to show her, and she was equally impressed. Awesome product!" —Robert A Moreno II

    Get a 12-pack from Amazon for $7.99.

    8. Tame the mess of cords tumbling around the bottom of your bag with a pack of reusable rubber twist ties.

Promising review: "I'm kind of a fanatic about keeping my cords neat and separated. I detest trying to untangle a mass of wires and cords. I'd never heard of these before but came across them on the Amazon site, and they looked useful. I love them! Not only do they get the job done, but unlike the wire or plastic twisties, they can be used over and over without damage to the tie. And, as an added bonus, I can color-code my wires and cords! While they are more expensive than other products for this purpose, they are still very reasonable — and far superior." —Heidi

    9. Keep your boots in shape and organized (whether they're in storage or on display) by inserting a pair of flexible shapers.,

They can be customized to fit boots of any height. The loop allows you to hang the boots up as well.

Promising review: "These definitely keep boots upright and protect their shape in the process. My closet floor went from cluttered to organized in a pinch, and they really help you see all the boots at once. Great purchase." —ChristinaK

These have clear windows so you can see exactly what's packed in each one.

Promising review: "I bought these to store sheets in my closet. These storage bags are well made and durable. I was able to fit two sets of queen-size sheet sets into each of them with room to spare. I like that they are breathable, stackable, and keep dust off your items when not in use. This zippers work well and are high quality. Great especially for sheets, blankets, and clothes, I would recommend them!" —S. M. G.

    Get a three-pack from Amazon for $14.98.

    11. Take off all your makeup every night (even waterproof mascara) with a gentle but effective cleansing water.

Promising review: "After one use of this product, I was thinking 'Where has this been all of my life?' I am using it to remove waterproof eye makeup, and it is WAY better than any eye makeup remover I have ever used before. It is not oily so it doesn't feel greasy or blur my vision after I use it, yet it cleans magnificently without rubbing. This is going to become a staple in my bathroom!" —Rabid Reader

    16. Banish weird odors and improve the air quality in your home by investing in a compact air purifier.

It features a three-stage filtration system: pre-filter, true HEPA filter, and activated carbon filter. It removes 99.97% of dust, pollen, smoke, odor, mold spores, and pet dander.

Promising review: "After having used this for a few months, I can confidently say how great this air purifier is. With the wildfires, the air quality in Oregon has been very unhealthy and at times hazardous. Combined with the heat, we have no choice but to leave our windows open or the air conditioner running. We also have hardwood floors so the dust, dander, and pet hair gets kicked up very easily. This air purifier has made a world of difference! No smoke smell in the room we run it in, and I don't have to worry as much about my son constantly breathing in the smog." —4ngryhoeb4g

Get it from Amazon for $79.19 (available in two colors).

    17. Prevent your tables and chairs from scratching up your hardwood floors with soft furniture socks.

Promising review: "Love these chair socks! I didn’t know they were even a thing until I was searching for a solution to my floors getting scratched! I used the felt pads for years but they fall off, or my kids lean back in the chairs so the corners scratch even with a pad. No more scratches since we switched to the chair socks! I barely notice them. Another benefit is we have an elderly pug who is losing her sight and runs into things a lot, and the socks cushion the blow on the bottom few inches of the chair legs." —MamaMoRx

I have even given away a few pages for friends to try!" —Amazon Customer

    20. Get a salon-quality blow-out right at home with minimal effort using a hot air brush. Nothing says "I have my shit together" like a fabulous 'do.,

Read a BuzzFeed editor's full review of the John Frieda hot air brush.

Promising review: "Let's face it. It's near-impossible to get a salon blowout at home. Your arms get tired and trying to manage a brush and blow dryer is a feat in it of itself. I thought I would give this brush a try. Well, it's not just good — it's great! I love this brush! I actually like the way my hair turns out with this styler better than what I get at the salon — seriously. I love my hairdresser, and she does a great job, but I have actually gotten more compliments on my hair when I do it myself with this tool. I will probably get two more to give to my daughters as well — that's how much I love it. I almost purchased another brand online that was closer to a hundred dollars, thinking the more you pay the better it is. Glad I didn't because this one is great, and you can't beat the price!" —debbie

Get it from Amazon for $31.99+ (available in two sizes).

    21. Save your mattress from spills and bodily fluids by covering it with a waterproof protector.

Promising review: "Love this thing! Spend a little money on the good stuff like this! It helped during a recent spill, and the mattress was completely untouched. The quality of this protector is AMAZING! Noiseless and beautiful." —Nancy

Get it from Amazon for $15.99+ (available in three sizes).

    22. Download Prism, a free app that'll keep track of all your bills and let you pay them off in one place.

Promising review: "It links to and keeps track of all of your bills and accounts. You link your checking account to it (or debit card, other accounts, whatever), and then it tells you every day where your money is at and how much you have left until payday. It organizes all your bills and displays all the balances and due dates on the dashboard. And then you can click the bill and set when you want to pay (now, tomorrow, three days before due date, lots of options) and how much and from what account and then swipe, and IT DOES IT FOR YOU RIGHT FROM THE DASHBOARD. I was so freaking tired of having to go from account to account to account and trying to remember due dates and organize money and prioritize bills and remembering different site logins. But NOW ITS JUST ALL IN ONE PLACE. AND IT’S FREE. AND I’M SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT IT.” —ByTheLion

Get it from the iTunes Store or the Google Play Store for free.

    23. Upgrade from your current sheets to a set of 400-thread-count cotton ones that are surprisingly affordable. Not only will they feel super luxurious but they'll also completely elevate the look of your bedroom.

Each set includes one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two pillowcases. Read a BuzzFeeder's full review of these Target sheets.

Promising review: "I like a cotton sheet, but it has to feel silky. I don't want to slip into bed and feel like I am on waxed paper. These sheets are very smooth. They wash like a dream. My mattress is older and isn't overly thick (9"). This bottom sheet fits with ample room. With a king-sized bed, sometimes it takes two attempts to get the bottom sheet in the right direction. Not with this set! There is a tag on the side that says 'side'! Genius, I tell you...genius." —Ellie

Get them from Target for $29.99+ (available in sizes twin-California king and in 17 colors).
