I reached out to Matt to find out where the inspiration to create his series of moving images came from. He said,
“I’ve been doing motion graphics for a while now, but about a year ago I got into the habit of doing really short animations as a way to experiment with new styles and techniques. A few months ago, this practice sort of evolved (or devolved?) into making gifs simply because I thought it would be fun to try. Like the animations themselves, making gifs was just an experiment - but one day, pretty much out of nowhere, a couple of my gifs started getting really popular on tumblr. Well, obviously this was a sign that I had found my true calling in life, so I’ve been doing a few gifs a week ever since.”
True calling, indeed. Here’s a sampling some of his work, as seen on his tumblr:
“Face To Vase”
- Protests outside a Donald Trump rally in New Mexico turned violent Tuesday night as demonstrators threw rocks and bottles at police officers.
- The Afghan Taliban has picked an extremist scholar as its successor to leader Mullah Mansour, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike last week.
- Twitter will no longer count links, @names, and GIFs toward its 140-character limit. You can also retweet yourself now.
