Bella Thorne On "Alexander," Her Hidden Talents, And Her Irrational Fear Of Eels

The star of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day takes our Q&A!

    What's your most used hashtag?

Bella Thorne: I don't really hashtag things. Unless I'm talking to somebody and I'm being funny and I say something mean but then I'm like, Hashtag…something that's funny. I like to only hashtag funny things, not real stuff. If I get a Starbucks, I don't hashtag it "Starbucks" — that's not my thing.

    Whats your most used emoji?

BT: Oh. It's my favorite emoji. The face that has bright-pink cheeks and a cute little pink tongue sticking out. And it's so happy! It's such a cute emoji. It's, like, in between friends and "I could like you" or "We're friends for now but we could go on a date." It's so cute.

    What's your biggest pet peeve?

BT: When boys don't send me flowers. I feel like girls always deserve flowers; it's just a nice thing to do. If you want to make your girlfriend smile, send her flowers! If we had a nice date, send me flowers — don't just text me "Hey." I also hate the word LOL — I hate when people write it in texts to me.

Were there any crazy pranks on the set of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day?

BT: No. Everybody asks, but no, there were not.

What was your favorite scene to film?

BT: Probably the scene in the car where he's making all those ridiculous faces. I mean, guys. We're already working 16 hours a day, we're slaphappy, we're tired, Ed is chuckling next to me and so is and Dylan. I'm like, "Ed, stop. You're going to make me laugh," because I'm the only one who's serious in the scene. I need to not like it because [my character] is not enjoying this. Ed just busts outs in laughter, Dylan is next, then comes me, and I just felt so bad because I ruined Steve's take and you never want to do that to an actor, especially Steve Carrell, right?

What's the coolest fan interaction you've had lately?

BT: This was cool. This older man came up to me and was like, "You really changed my life." And I was like, "Why?" And he said that he has dyslexia and he can barely read. So he was trying to read a book to his 6-year-old daughter but he couldn't get through it and he started crying. She turns and she goes, "It's OK, Dad — CeCe can't read either." And he said he was so happy that his daughter understood without having to say, "I can't read."

    Who's your favorite Disney Princess?

BT: I like the girl from Brave because, you know what? She's a badass. I like her because in all the other princess stories the prince charming comes in and saves the day but no — not in Brave! No prince charming comes and she saves her family and has her bow and arrows and her coolness… plus she's a redhead and that's cool too.

    What's your go-to dance move?

BT: My go-to dance move is probably just a two-step. You can whip it out at any party. I was just trying to teach this kid how to dance — he's the worst dancer — and he just didn't get it. I was like, "It's a one-two step, it's not that hard, you can whip it out at any party."

Do you have any hidden talents?

BT: Oh yeah. This right here is my jam. I can do tongue tricks! [see below] I also have a bone in my sternum that I can pop and in out of my chest.

What's the last album you bought?

BT: So there's a song that I wanted — OK, it's my song from the Mostly Ghostly soundtrack — because my mom wanted to make a video from it? And I had to buy the whole album!

Was this in a store or online?

BT: It was online. And when I listen to music I usually just go straight to my "Recently Added" part but now it's filled with the Mostly Ghostly soundtrack and now I can't find my songs.

    What scares you?

    BT: Spiders, snakes, and eels.

    Eels? What?

BT: Don't question me! It was my first time going to an aquarium and I'm not kidding you, the eels look at you like [see below] with one eye on this side and one on the other side. The Little Mermaid did not help the eels' case. I don't like snakes because I think they're disgusting: Did you ever read the stories about snakes that are like, "This snake swallowed a child"? And spiders. Who likes spiders?!?! No one that I'm friends with, I'll tell you that. People who like spiders — I can't trust them.

Who was the last person who texted you?

BT: My agent. I'm setting up a birthday surprise for my brother.

What's the most recent book you've read?

BT: Stolen. Very good book, you guys should read it.

    Favorite pizza topping?

    BT: Jalapeño pepperoni. And pineapple!

    What's your favorite word?

    BT: Dude.

    Favorite vegetable?

    BT: I like spinach.

    What's your favorite sport?

    BT: Baseball.

    Favorite boy band?

BT: I'm not a boy band kind of girl. I like hip-hop, I like R&B.

    Britney or Christina?

    BT: Britney.

    New York or L.A.?

    BT: L.A.

    '80s or '90s?

    BT: '80s.

    Favorite season?

    BT: Summer.

    Christmas or Thanksgiving?

    BT: Christmas.

    Puppies or kittens?

    BT: Kittens.

    Bacon or Nutella?

BT: Nutella? Is even that a question?
