Looks like it’s once again time for me to remind everyone that Wayfair furnishes immigrant detention facilities (yeah, the ones with virtually unlivable conditions) and state prisons. They’re a part of the prison industrial complex and, as holier-than-thou as they like to get about…Â
It is seriously hypocritical that Buzzfeed can post articles about how terrible the police are, the ongoing and incredibly important BLM protests, and the conditions of ICE detainment facilities and then turn around and promote a company like Wayfair that profits on that same systemic…Â
@Buzzfeed y’all post plenty of articles about ICE detention facilities and has a whole organized page of information about ongoing BLM protests, so why can’t you keep that same energy with the companies you actively promote (and likely profit off of as a result of your promotion)?…Â
For the record, Wayfair has furnished migrant detention centers and state prisons around the U.S. Supporting them supports the prison industrial complex, and it is unethical for Buzzfeed to continue promoting them.
At least in the state of Georgia, Wayfair provides beds/other furniture for prisons, meaning that the company profits directly from the racist mass incarceration system (more people housed in prisons = more beds = more money for Wayfair). Particularly in the midst of the ongoing BLM…Â
