New Turtle Species Discovered in Mississippi

When Josh Ennin was a 20 year old college student, he had no idea that his work documenting wildlife for the All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory would one day lead to the discovery of a new species of turtle. Josh named the new turtle Graptemys pearlensis, or the Pearl River Map Turtle. I think the new species is pretty cute, but I might be biased. (via aspenparkland)
