15 Things That Happened At The Tony Awards Dress Rehearsal

"Is it over yet? Let it be done." — Tony co-host, Kristin Chenoweth

1. Hundreds of theater fans lined up early on Sunday morning to attend the final dress rehearsal of the Tony Awards at Radio City.

The dress is a final run of the entire show with the hosts, musical numbers, and even fake acceptance speeches.

2. A lot of awards will be given out before the broadcast and during commercials.

Jessie Mueller and James Monroe Iglehart, who both won Tony's last year, are the co-hosts of the creative arts awards.

3. Seat fillers and stand-ins fill the seats of some very famous people who might not be at the dress rehearsal to make sure the cameras know where everyone is.

4. There were a few mistakes at dress rehearsal, which is why they have a dress rehearsal.

During Something Rotten's performance, the music didn't come on. Brian d'Arcy James sang a little tune about the music not working and wondering when he could continue.

5. Since this is a dress rehearsal, actors play other actors (the nominees) and give fake speeches.

Some are really funny and some are totally random. This guy accidentally made a Last Ship burn. Sorry, Sting.

6. Bradley Cooper is the first presenter of the evening.

He wasn't at the dress—*sobbing*—but we're looking forward to seeing him on TV tonight. Tune in early to see the Tony nominated star of The Elephant Man give out the award for Best Actress in a Play.

7. While they look real on TV, a lot of the sets you see are actually just giant projections of LED screens.

8. There will be a super fun tribute to Tommy Tune who will be honored with a lifetime achievement award.

Co-hosts Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming get their dance on while paying tribute to the nine-time Tony winner.

9. Sydney Lucas' performance of "Ring of Keys" from Fun Home is one of the major highlights of the entire show.

The 11-year-old Tony nominee proves the emotional power of one person onstage.

10. Real celebs show up to the dress rehearsal and they look like normal people.

Obviously, not everyone comes to the dress rehearsal (We missed you Bradley!), but major celebs like Rose Bryne, Bobby Cannavale, Sting, Larry David, Jason Alexander, Amanda Seyfried, and Ashley Tisdale were there to learn their part for tonight's big show.

11. The show is making up for their mistake from last year, when they didn't air the in memoriam segment during the broadcast, with a historic performance.

Josh Groban will be joined by over 175 Broadway performers in the stunning tribute to theatre artists we lost over the last year.

12. Ashley Tisdale was at the dress and will be introducing her BFF Vanessa Hudgens' performance in Gigi.

14. All the cast members performing in Tony nominated shows get bussed over to Radio City and hang out in the audience before their performance time.

Most of the shows also have matinee performances, so they not only have dress rehearsal, but have to do a show before the on air performance.

15. Both Alan and Kristin are great hosts and really bring it when performing.

Kristin is juggling starring in On The Twentieth Century (for which she's nominated) with hosting and she still found time to put together a great show with stellar performances. Near the end of the dress, exhausted, she said, "Is it over yet? Let it be done." But like the Energizer Bunny, she just keeps going.
