    The Friday Tip

Make a healthy adjustment to your eating psychology...

    The Friday Tip

    The Bigger Man

    When do you feel better?

A.) After a day of healthy eating

B.) After a day of unhealthy eating?

At this point, dear reader, I picture many of you snorfing (v. from the noun snorf, the slightly pretentious cousin of the snort-laugh) and perhaps even softly verbalizing a sarcastic quip such as, 'Um -A-Duh.' because you actually see the vast benefits of healthy eating in your daily life and recognize A to be the truth.

This article is not for you.

This article is for the many of us who, when asked the above question, would respond A. but only because we know it would be crazy to admit the truth: That making unhealthy eating choices is us in our normal state. We may believe that eating healthy leads to a better life-style but we have trouble putting it to practice. This next question might cause some discomfort:

What is stopping you from allowing your body to feel better every day?

Sometimes, I think we get caught up in the personal logistics of eating healthy (I totally could not give up Haribo gummy bears or Deep Dish Pizza) but The Bigger Man recognizes that even though it is a difficult conversion, the first step is simple: start doing it. Don't worry about the plan or how hard it is or how guilty you think you're going to feel if you fail. Just work towards it and reap the benefits.

This type of evolution doesn't have to start with an explosive, life-altering change (unless you have evidence that a cold-turkey shedding of bad lifestyle habits works for you). For most of us, we will do better to just start making small and manageable adjustments to our eating habits. You have the control, now exercise it.

TIP OF THE DAY: Tomorrow, consciously make a small but healthy eating choice for breakfast (apple and yogurt?). Later in the morning, when you think you are hungry, remember that you already ate and trust that your body is sustained. Your brain will try to trick you into thinking it is hungry because it is used to consuming more. But in actuality, that sensation is not hunger, it's just the growing pains of becoming The Bigger Man.

    Sincerely,

    The Bigger Man
