The Author Of "Twilight" Has A Countdown On Her Website, And No One Knows What It's For

Fingers crossed for Midnight Sun on May 4!

As you may know, this is Stephenie Meyer, the New York Times bestselling author of The Twilight Saga:

And this is what her website currently looks like:

It's been overtaken by a massive countdown to May 4 at 8:30 a.m. ET, and absolutely no one knows why.

The links at the bottom all lead to social media for Fickle Fish Films, a production company cofounded by Meyer that produced The Host and Austenland movies. But if you go to the Fickle Fish Twitter, this is the only explanation:

    Back to where we started.

One theory about the countdown is that it has something to do with The Host, also written by Meyer. It's about aliens, so the starry-sky background for the countdown makes sense.

Even if it is about The Host, the countdown could mean anything. The cast of Austenland recently reunited on livestream, so maybe The Host will get the same treatment.

Looky looky! The #AustenlandReunion is off to the races! And with a surprise @JENCOOLIDGE appearance! Watch here: https://t.co/WkAvpOvehb

I'm honestly here for anything involving Saoirse Ronan.

But all the Twilight books ALSO have nighttime/astronomy-themed titles, so a lot of people are speculating that the countdown could be Twilight-related!

The most popular theory is that the countdown means Midnight Sun is fiiiiiiiinally being released.

If you missed that drama, Midnight Sun was supposed to be a companion novel to Twilight told from Edward's perspective, but after an early draft leaked in 2008, Meyer posted the draft on her website and shelved the project indefinitely.

If Meyer has some huge announcement, it feels like it should be Midnight Sun, but it looks like we'll have to wait until May 4 to find out.
