Lizzo's First Instagram Post After Jillian Michaels Commented On Her Health Needs To Be Plastered On A Billboard

"This is my life. I have done nothing wrong. I forgive myself for thinking I was wrong in the first place."

Yesterday, personal trainer and author Jillian Michaels made comments about Lizzo's body and health during an interview on BuzzFeed News' morning show AM2DM:

.@JillianMichaels on Lizzo: "Why are we celebrating her body? Why does it matter? Why aren't we celebrating her music? 'Cause it isn't gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes."

Her comments immediately drew backlash, with many calling them body-shaming and not based on scientific facts:

@AM2DM @JillianMichaels Nick Jonas and Halle Berry both have diabetes. Fat does not equal diabetes.

TW Fatphobia - Once you understand that nothing she is saying is backed by fact or science, this interview becomes all the more pathetic. This isn't about health, this is about humiliating and shaming bodies that are not white and thin. https://t.co/yeYZrWBvLf

All this time it turns out Jillian Michaels was the biggest loser. https://t.co/KKEN9SI7vi

Jillian later issued a statement and doubled down on her remarks, writing, "There are serious health consequences that come with obesity — heart disease, diabetes, cancer to name only a few."

Meanwhile, Lizzo did not directly address the situation, but the singer did take to Instagram to share a powerful message with her fans:

"Today’s mantra is: This is my life. I have done nothing wrong. I forgive myself for thinking I was wrong in the first place. I deserve to be happy," she captioned a video showing off the skyline view from her room.

Lizzo also encouraged her 7.3 million followers to "take 5 deep breaths... in through the nose... out through the mouth."

Kudos to you, Lizzo, for not feeding into any negative thoughts and reminding us to take a moment to breathe and remember we are all worthy of happiness ❤️.
