Ariana Grande Just Changed The Meaning Of "BDE" And It's A Big Freakin' Deal

    Love to see it.

Ariana Grande, I see you, sis.

The princess of ponytails recently teamed up with Lady Gaga for "Rain on Me," aka the gayest bop of the year, and talked about the experience in a new interview.

"It feels so fun to be a part of something so upbeat and, like, straight pop again, because I do feel like it’s been a minute since I’ve done something that pop-y really," Ari told Apple Music's Zane Lowe.

"I had so much fun. I was like, ‘I’ve never dressed like this in my life. I’m just having the best time'," the 26-year-old said about the music video.

The highlight of the interview, for me, came when Ms. Grande ever so subtly changed the meaning of "BDE" while talking about her first impressions of meeting other women in the music industry.

In case you have no clue what "BDE" used to mean, it stood for Big Dick Energy. The phrase became popular on the internet in 2018 when Ariana was dating (and briefly engaged to) comedian Pete Davidson and revealed that he has a, erm, big dick* on Twitter.

Anyway, it looks like Ariana wants to reclaim the term because she now has a new meaning for the acronym: Big Diva Energy!

“Well, I find that that’s what I discovered with every single woman that I’ve met, who has had the BDE, the Big Diva Energy thing thrown around, and the horrible rumors started about them, and the narrative has been so weirdly skewed and whatever, I’ve found that everyone that I’ve met has this beautiful human bleeding heart," she said.

"I feel like it’s just such a weird position to be in, because you’re an artist and you want people to hear you everywhere, and you want people to blast your music, and you want to see yourself and hear your music everywhere,” she continued.

“And then it goes left, and then people don’t understand you. And then you feel completely overtaken by the world. And then you take it back at some point."

Ariana went on to say, "I feel like [Gaga] has done such an incredible job of doing that, and healing herself…and she’s just a beautiful person.”

"She does do a really fantastic job riding that line of being like, ‘Hey, it is what it is.’ But also like, ‘I’m going to give you a fucking show, and I’m going to pick every color that’s on the screen. Every lighting cue, every shot, every wig that every dancer is wearing. Every, everything. I’m going to pick."

"It’s awesome. I really love seeing her have the point of view, and such gentleness at the same time. And respect for another artist at the same time,” Ari concluded.

Changing "BDE" from Big Dick Energy to Big Diva Energy and using it as a term of women empowerment? I love to hear it.

So what did we learn today kids? As of Friday, May 22, Ariana hereby declared "BDE" to mean Big Diva Energy and we shall use it accordingly. K, bye.
