23 TV Shows People Used To Hate, But Now Love
This post is proof that some TV shows actually DO get better!
We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which TV shows they initially hated, but grew to love. Here are the results:
1. The Office

The first season is very Michael-centered, and while you grow to love him, he is pretty annoying in the beginning. Once the show hits its stride and starts introducing all of the other characters, it’s seriously so good.
2. Game of Thrones

My boyfriend had to force me to get through the first season. It took me until about halfway through the second one to start liking it.
3. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

I watched the pilot when it aired and thought it was so stupid. It just didn't impress me. Lo and behold, I was wrong.
4. Stranger Things

I hated Stranger Things at first because I thought that the first episode was boring and the storyline was confusing. I decided to give it another chance, and now it’s my absolute favorite.
5. Big Little Lies

It took like three episodes for me to get hooked, and even then I still wasn't fully invested in it. However, that all changed toward the end of Season 1.
6. Breaking Bad

I just found it so slow and tedious at the beginning. I wanted the story to get moving and then BAM! I was sucked into a show full of murder, drugs, and criminals.
7. Golden Girls

I thought it was just a boring show about older ladies who bantered about things I didn't understand. Now I understand every single joke and it's my favorite television show.
8. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

The humor really turned me off at first, but I decided to give it another chance. It turned out to be so self-aware and just got better with each season!
9. Supernatural

I tried to watch it a couple of times and couldn't even make it through the pilot episode. Once I finally made it past that point, I fell in love. Now I'm crying that it's almost over.
10. Mad Men

I understand that we’re supposed to be shocked and appalled by the workplace sexism in the first few seasons, but it was actually so repulsive that it made me hate the show itself. I only kept watching because my friend insisted it got better, and I’m really glad I stuck with it.
11. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

I absolutely couldn’t stand it when it first came out, but it really won me over. I even cried when I watched the series finale!
12. Barry

I wasn’t totally hooked on Barry right away, but now that the second season has ended, it definitely ranks as one of my favorite shows.
13. The Vampire Diaries

I thought it was just going to be a Twilight knockoff at first, but it was actually completely different.
14. BoJack Horseman

I initially thought BoJack Horseman was just one of those shows with a problematic protagonist who eventually gets better, but I realized that it's a lot more than that. It teaches a lot of life lessons and it's also very funny.
15. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

I thought Rebecca was so dramatic throughout the first season. However, once you learn about everything she’s been through, she becomes a lot more lovable and relatable. I was fully enthralled until the very end.
16. Westworld

At first I thought there was no way a show about a robot rebellion could be original, but then I realized that Westworld was a lot more complex than that. It also examines what it means to be human and our inability to control the world around us. Also, the acting and score are phenomenal.
17. Supergirl

I thought Supergirl was so ridiculous and corny at first that I was just watching so I could laugh at it, but now I'm 100% invested in the drama.
18. Dead to Me

I turned it off halfway through the first episode because I've seen plenty of these grief support group dramedies. However, after some urging from my friends, I went back and finished Episode 1. Then I binge-watched the rest as fast as I could.
19. Lucifer

I REALLY couldn’t stand the first few episodes of Lucifer. I thought it was a cheap Sleepy Hollow knockoff. However, I began to see its individuality, and now it’s one of my favorite shows ever!
20. Gossip Girl

I found the first episode of Gossip Girl to be slow and thought the characters were annoying and uninteresting. I tried watching it again a year later, and I was hooked!

21. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The first season was tough to get through, but I'm glad I pushed through those bad episodes!
22. Teen Wolf

The first couple of episodes were so cringeworthy, but it turned out to be this awesome drama that I literally couldn't stop watching.
23. And Glee

I hated Glee when it premiered. I thought all of the characters were selfish and stuck-up, and I especially despised Rachel’s attitude. I also didn't really care for the jokes. However, it grew on me and became one of my favorite shows.
