On Sunday, Netflix added a Tiger Kingfollow-up special featuring most of the cast from the docuseries. But it was missing Carole Baskin, Doc Antle, Joe Exotic (who is still in prison), and his current husband, Dillon.
We didn't get to learn that much about Dillon in Tiger King, but in an interview with Us Weekly published Monday, Dillon opened up about his relationship with Joe.
Dillon said that though he has no plans to leave Joe, his husband has encouraged him to find a second partner. “He’s like, ‘I don’t want you to be alone. I know how hard it is.’ And I’m just like, ‘You know, I don’t need anybody to do that right now. I’m kind of focusing on me and what life has to throw at me,’” he said.
He also mentioned that if he did happen to fall in love with someone else, Joe would still be part of his life.
In a previous interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live, Dillon said that he has no plans to break things off with Joe while he's in prison, saying, "I do love Joe. He's been there for me through my darkest times. I'm not just gonna dip out and abandon him when he needs me most."
Joe's encouragement of an open marriage is hardly surprising. In Tiger King, he was very open about having two husbands (though he never legally married John Finlay). But it looks like Dillon and Joe are still happily in love, despite it all.
