So there is an ongoing investigation* into a kiwi that mysteriously appeared on someone's kitchen counter one day.
The story begins on Tumblr in May when a user found and posted a photo of a single kiwi sitting in her kitchen. The user assumed the kiwi was her roommate's, but a conversation between them quickly determined neither of them purchased the kiwi.
Seriously perplexed, the roommates do some digging into kiwi brand to see if somehow one of them accidentally purchased the kiwi?
Until they find out Kiwiny, an Italian brand, does not list the US as one of their retailers (according to their website).
And so the roommates came to this startling realization:
Weeks, months go by. The post now has 87,000 notes. People are wondering if the mystery was ever solved and actually submitting AMAs to the user. To which the user posts this fantastic(al) update:
You'd think this was the end the story. But in the newest update, Kiwiny finds the user and starts following her on Twitter 😳.
The company then responds to the mystery on Facebook, offering several theories on how one of their fruits ended up on an American kitchen counter.
