23 Struggles Dyslexic People Will Understand

    When spell check has no solutions for you.

    1. When Google can’t actually work out what you’re trying to search.

    2. Or when spell check betrays you.

    3. People thinking you're stupid for getting basic spellings wrong.

    4. And writing easier words because the first one you chose was too damn stressful.

    5. Being one of the last people in your school to get your "pen licence".

    6. And being a slow reader meant all the Harry Potter books got RUINED for you.

    7. When people at school would say they were jealous of you getting more time in exams.

    8. Thinking something in your head sounds brilliant, but then when you try to write it down it makes no sense.

    9. Having to bribe yourself to study.

    10. Writing an essay, checking it over for ages then getting it back and finding out there were three typos in the title.

    11. Constantly having your spelling corrected on the internet.

    12. Having a total panic when you have to write by hand.

    13. And being destroyed by printed forms and instructions.

    WHY ARE THERE NO DIAGRAMS?

    14. Living in fear of writing your own name incorrectly.

    So booking flights is literally the most stressful experience.

    15. Trying to cook from a recipe book and having a disaster.

    one time when I was twelve I misread the microwave brownie recipe and thought it said half a CUP of salt

    Pasta or Pasatta? Prosecco or Prosciutto? Eh it's probably the same thing.

    16. Having to write a list when you need to go to the shops for one item.

    17. Covering your house in reminders so that you actually remember to do things.

    18. Going to see foreign films with subtitles is your absolute worst nightmare.

    19. Constantly entering WiFi passwords incorrectly.

    20. And not being able to deal with Captchas.

    21. Having to read aloud.

    22. But even though it sometimes sucks, it means you’re probably creative AF.
