Wikipedia just turned 10 and according to NPR, they believe they are "nothing less than the greatest collection of human knowledge," and so the Wikimedia Foundation is starting a lobbying campaign to get the UN to recognize Wikipedia as "UNESCO's first digital World Cultural Heritage Site." If Wikipedia gains acceptance, it would receive the same international protection and preservation man-made monuments and natural wonders get.
