Fraser Island is about a 45-minute ferry ride from Hervey Bay, Queensland. You can go for a ~wild~ experience and camp in the bush during your stay, or live the ~luxury~ life by staying at a resort. 2. Central Station

The name can be misleading - this is probably not the kind of "station" that may come to mind. Instead, you can walk through a peaceful, lush rainforest and listen to the sounds of the bush.

3. Basin Lake

After doing a forest walk, you'll arrive at Basin Lake. If you're lucky, you might spot some freshwater turtles!

It's actually so surreal to marvel at Maheno Shipwreck. It was washed ashore by a cyclone in 1935 while on its way to Japan.

The coloured sands on Fraser Island are caused by the leaching of oxides and decay of vegetation. There are about 72 different colours to be found, most of which are different shades of reds and yellows.

The vast sand dunes of Hammerstone Sandblow actually created Lake Wabby by increasing in size until it cut off a nearby creek.

Similar to Lake McKenzie, Lake Birabeen also boasts clear water and soft, white sand. It's also a great location for some stand-up paddle boarding!
