Dear Australia, This Is The Correct Way To Eat A Meat Pie And That's That

Yes, I will deconstruct my pie and perform culinary surgery before eating it.

Look, we all know meat pies are the pinnacle of Australian cuisine.

Some of us at BuzzFeed Oz recently tried each other's ways of eating meat pies. Turns out there's a bit of a discrepancy in which eating method is superior, but my way (the deconstructed method) got a tonne of love in the comments.

So, now I'm here to tell you lovely readers that if you're not using the deconstructed method, you've been eating meat pies wrong your whole life.

First things first: Start off by heating it up and use a spoon or knife to cut around the lid.

Squeeze some TOMATO SAUCE onto the pie lid, because ✨flavour✨.

The next step is very important: Put a generous amount of tomato sauce into the meat and mix it around with a spoon.

Mixing the sauce into the meat adds a nice salty flavour to an otherwise bland situation, truly upgrading the entire experience.

Finally, your pie is ready for consumption. I start by eating the meat with a spoon.

Why? Because we all know the pastry is the best part. It's crunchy, filling and we want to save the best for last.
