I don't know what to tell you. Maybe it was the sad holiday song or the near-death hospital scene, but either way, I was suspicious! I've watched enough Hallmark movies to know a trap when I see one.

And I wasn't the only one that felt this way. People had a ton of theories, like that Henry Golding was a ghost...

@lastchristmas @emiliaclarke @henrygolding Betting that he died Last Christmas and he's Michelle Yeoh's son, plot twist is she finds a photo of him at the store and he talks to his mum like Ghost (1990)

    ...or an angel....

My best case scenario for this movie is an "It's a Wonderful Life" style twist where he's an angel (who also happens to be her organ donor?) sent to help her make the most of her last Christmas on earth before she dies, after which they get their HEA in the afterlife.

    ...or an organ donor.

Oh boy, the twist in LAST CHRISTMAS is definitely that Henry Golding is a.) a ghost and b.) donated his heart to Emilia Clarke. And they will certainly play "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart ..." over the end credits for maximum tears

Well, I've officially seen the movie and I know the truth. But, if you want to remain blissfully ignorant, read no further! AKA, SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!

    Alright, drum roll, please...

    He's her organ donor!

After getting a heart transplant, aspiring singer Kate (Emilia Clarke) isn't feeling like herself. She's a Grade A selfish mess and is ruining all of her relationships, one mistake at a time. Then she meets Tom (Henry Golding), who teaches her how to be selfless and give back.

When she goes looking for him at his apartment, a realtor tells her that the place is for sale, after the original owner died. Kate realizes that Tom is a ghost and all the moments they shared, she really experienced alone.

Tom reappears and confirms her suspicions that he was, in fact, her organ donor. He tells her that "she would've had his heart no matter what," and reader, when I tell you I sobbed.

Was this a twist? Certainly. But, it was also crazy obvious. Let's look at the evidence, shall we? First of all, he's always wearing the same clothes. Secondly, he doesn't have a scene with anyone else. She even tells him that he "keeps disappearing" on her!

Even though it's sad, he does help her learn how to use her heart again. Plus, there's a cute guy she meets volunteering who I like to think is who she's supposed to end up with all along.

So, there you have it! Were your theories correct? Tell us in the comments!
