As someone with pretty sensitive, dry skin, I was equal parts excited and hesitant to give Glossier’s Solution a try. I’ve been on the hunt for a good exfoliant for some time, but because my skin can’t always tolerate powerful cleansers and exfoliating washes, I’d been holding out.

Fortunately, Solution has proven itself a viable exfoliator for my skin and me. I can definitely feel that my face is softer after use, and layering on serums and moisturizer afterwards is a simple, perfectly-buildable task. And because I’m presently taking Accutane for my skin, I’m using Solution every other day as a way to proactively avoid potential skin irritation — and I think that’s helped a lot for my sensitive skin. —Kyle Davis

First of all, can we talk about the design? Its packaging is super ergonomical and smart with a curved pump that fits their 100% cotton rounds, which means zero mess! I'm all for hygienic products and the cotton rounds feel so luxe and purposeful, like yes, I'm really out here pampering my skin. I think it's also good "portion control" in terms of the amount you're applying because I'm really scared of exfoliators — let's just get that out of the way — and I never want to overdo it. Back to the whole scared part: I know exfoliation is part of a healthy skincare routine, but exfoliators (both chemical and physical) always seem to make my skin angrier, so I stop using them right away.

Enter Solution. It doesn't make my sensitive skin go crazy or produce new, unwelcome bumps! The only exfoliator I've tried thus far to do so. Important note: I only use it about two times (sometimes three) a week. But I still FEEL the results — literally, my skin has never felt so baby soft (and I loooooad on the moisturizing skincare products like no other). But this is a different kind of soft — so smooth, refreshed, and like I've never had a bump on my face, ever! It does tingle a bit, but there's no usual redness that follows. My skin is super dry in the winter and I absolutely swear by Thayers Witch Hazel toner — it helps keep my breakouts and redness at bay without drying out my skin any further. However, I have cystic breakouts around my chin area — especially once a month, if you know what I mean — and not even my beloved witch hazel could help with that. SO! I decided to slowly incorporate Glossier’s Solution into my skincare regimen.

Last week, I was breaking out pretty badly when I decided to use this after washing my face. It comes with a whole pouch full of cotton rounds (#fancy) and I needed just one pump to cover my whole face (paying close attention to my problem areas, including around my chin and near my temples). The next morning, my skin definitely felt a little dry, but my pimples were practically gone. The overnight improvement was dramatic, and none of my spots were an angry shade of red like they usually are. While I think this product is a bit too drying to use every night if you have dry skin, using it twice a week is the perfect dose of “pimple killer” for me! Anyone with oily skin knows that trying new products is like playing Russian roulette. When you find something that works and doesn’t break you out, you stick with it! I was very nervous to try Solution, but let me tell you the risk was worth the reward! Most new products I use break me out (especially toners and oils). That said, Solution is an acid, and I seriously swear by this stuff now. When you have oily skin, it’s easy for your face to look dull because skin cells don’t regenerate as quickly as someone with normal skin. Solution helped dissolve dead cells that usually get trapped on my face and cause dullness and breakouts. So Solution has really helped me look brighter and more vibrant, while keeping my acne away.

I’m obsessed with it (and I’m not obsessed with a lot of products, especially Glossier because until Solution, I thought the brand was just pretty packaging for people who already have good skin). I’m impressed and suggest this for anyone who feels like they have a more radiant complexion waiting to be revealed underneath oily or dull-looking skin!
