Award-Winning Women-Led Series "I Am" Returns Next Month With Three New Stories

I am... definitely going to watch this.

If you're not familiar with the anthology series I Am, each season is basically a trilogy of super compelling one hour episodes that explore the experiences of women today.

The first season – which starred absolute queens Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians), Vicky McClure (Line of Duty), and Samantha Morton (Harlots) – told the stand-alone stories of Hannah, Nicola, and Vicky, respectively.

This new three-part season will reuse the same format, and will continue working with some of Britain’s most incredible actors. In this case, Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), and Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) will star and I literally cannot wait to see them in action.

The first ep, I Am Victoria, will star Suranne Jones as a successful, career-driven woman with a seemingly perfect life. As pressure mounts around her from various sources, however, Victoria begins to struggle with her mental health, and is at a loss for where to turn for help.

The series continues with I Am Danielle, in which a photographer falls for a model but soon discovers a disturbing secret about him. Danielle, played by Letitia Wright, wonders if she can still love him despite this betrayal of trust.

The third and final episode, I Am Maria, tells the story of a woman who has just reached her 60th birthday. Suffocated by her daily routine and the direction her life has taken thus far, Maria – played by Lesley Manville – longs to find liberation and happiness once again.

The second season of I Am will begin airing next week on 5th August at 9pm on Channel 4. New episodes will be released weekly, and will also be available on All4. We'll keep you updated on where to watch outside of the UK, but for now, here's the trailer for season one to give you a flavour of the series:
