The Vigil Idiot Reviews “Wazir”, A Thriller With More Chess Puns Than Plot Points

Presenting the plot of Bejoy Nambiar's latest, which is damn stale, mate.

Wazir, or "How many laboured chess metaphors can one fit in a 100-minute movie," is directed by Bejoy Nambiar. It stars Farhan Akhtar as Anti-Terrorist Squad officer Danish Ali and Amitabh Bachchan as paraplegic chess tutor Pandit Omkarnath Dhar. It also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham in fleeting guest appearances. As you can see, there's a lot of pieces on this board, but the script itself needs a check, mate. Geddit? Geddit? (If you think these "mate" chess puns are bad, you haven't seen the film yet.)
