This Singer's Response To Coke Studio's Divisive Rendition Of "Afreen" Has Gone Ginormously Viral

There's still no beating the original.

The second episode of Coke Studio's ninth season featured Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Momina Mustehsan recreating Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's classic "Afreen Afreen".

The cover has garnered almost two million views over the past week, and has been praised by many listeners.

OMG Afreen Afreen is another level of mind blowing. Keeps you hooked till the last beat! #cokestudioseason9

However, it has also faced some criticism for not being able to do justice to the original.

A hugeeee fan of Coke Studio but what did they just do with Afreen Afreen? Awful. Bollywood chic flick ka gaana lag raha hai.

A lot of people also pointed out that the artists had excluded one of the best verses from the song.

Well I didn't like this 'Afreen Afreen' coke studio version..they missed the most beautiful verse: Ankhain dekhien tau mein dekhta reh gya..

On August 21, singer Abdullah Qureshi uploaded a response video featuring the missing verse sung by him.

The video has over a million views and been shared almost 25,000 times in just two days.

But it looks like there's no pleasing the purists, who have also found fault with Qureshi's performance.

While the jury deliberates on the legitimacy of the two covers, here's the original masterpiece for your listening pleasure:
