This week, Kelly Clarkson dropped two fire singles, "me" and "mine," both from her upcoming album Chemistry.
Kelly revealed that this album is about her divorce, so it's safe to assume that Kelly's referring to her ex, Brandon Blackstock, whom she divorced in 2020.
In the two new tracks, we got a glimpse into some of the issues in their relationship.
Let's start with "me." In the track, Kelly sang, "Your insecurity was the death of you and me."
She also alluded to the fact that her ex kept secrets:
At the climax of the song, Kelly sang about not needing someone who "scolds" her, nor somebody that "hurts" her.
In "mine," Kelly gave a further glimpse into her relationship, one where she said she had to question the motives of her partner.
She also sang about being with someone who stole her shine:
And as a result of this relationship, she second guesses herself:
One powerful moment in the song was when Kelly sings, "Who the hell do you think you are?"
Yass, Kelly. YOU are Kelly freakin' Clarkson. You deserve the world.
