Foo Fighters have cancelled the remainder of their European tour after lead singer Dave Grohl fell off the stage and broke his leg during a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden, last week.
The band said in a statement on Tuesday that due to the nature of Grohl’s injuries, doctors have called for the band to cancel upcoming gigs in Europe and the UK.
The concerts include a headline spot at Glastonbury Festival on 26 June, as well as two dates at London's Wembley Stadium and a show at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh this month.
The band said Grohl underwent surgery on Monday and his recuperation time has yet to be determined.
There was no mention of whether the gigs are to be rescheduled.
Grohl also wrote a blog post about his broken leg and letting fellow headliner Kanye West steal the limelight at Glastonbury.
Grohl thanked the medical team who operated on his leg in London and recounted how his EMT held his broken limb in place on stage while he continued to play as they waited for a cast to arrive.
The 46-year-old added: "Here's the not so witty bit... My doctors have advised me to lay low for a while. The most important thing now is for me to recover from the surgery, to keep my leg elevated so as to keep swelling down and prevent any infection/complication that could do long term damage. I'm not out of the woods yet, folks.
"Which means, and it kills me to say it…..the doctors have told us to cancel shows. I'm really so sorry, guys. You know I hate to do it, but I'm afraid it's just not physically possible for me at the moment."
Grohl then signed off with: "PS…….Kanye…..Imma let you have this one."
Following the news, it was fair to say the band's UK fans were a bit gutted at missing out on the chance to see them play.
While others don't seem too fussed.
But mainly the reaction has been one of distress.
To be fair to Grohl and the Foo Fighters, it was quite a rock 'n' roll injury.
Glastonbury organisers also released a statement on Tuesday evening wishing Grohl a speedy recovery and saying a new Friday headliner will be announced soon.
Glastonbury Festival has announced that Florence + the Machine will be headlining the Pyramid Stage in the Foo Fighters' slot instead.
