The image will be projected onto the Eiffel Tower.

The British street artist has reworked Balloon Girl to coincide with the third anniversary of the Syrian civil war.

The altered image will be used to promote the #withsyria campaign in support of victims of the conflict.

The reclusive artist has written on his website about an incident in the Syrian town of Daraa in 2011 which saw 15 children "arrested and tortured for painting anti-authoritarian graffiti".

"The protests that followed their detention led to an outbreak of violence

across the country that would see a domestic uprising transform into a

civil war displacing 9.3 million people from their homes."

A series of vigils are due to be held around the world this week to mark the third anniversary of the Syrian civil war.
