Lin-Manuel Miranda Has Just Scored His First Oscar Nomination

Close to being the youngest person to get the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony).

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical genius/Latino icon behind broadway hits Hamilton and In The Heights, has been nominated for an Oscar for his song "How Far I'll Go" from Moana.

With this nomination, Miranda is close to capturing the EGOT — the prestigious title for those who've won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. At 37, he'd be the youngest person to achieve such an impressive feat.

On top of this, he also has a Pulitzer and won the MacArthur "Genius" Grant. So...GEMPOT? MacEGPOT? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    People are ecstatic.

Miranda has some stiff competition, especially since two songs from La La Land were nominated as well. But people are still rooting for Lin.

And while there is a severe lack of Latinos being nominated this year, it's cool that we can see artists like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Rodrigo Prieto (cinematographer) rise above and represent!

Congrats to ALL the Latinos nominated for Oscars this year! Lin Manuel Miranda and Rodrigo Prieto. All both of them… https://t.co/h5kTvGM6D8

    Good luck, Lin!
