21 Actors Who Revealed The Surprising Places They Keep Their Oscars, Emmys, And Other Big Awards

    There are at least four actors who keep their awards in a bathroom.

    1. First, Kate Winslet decided to keep her Oscar Award for Best Actress in her bathroom, and she loves how hilarious it is when she has guests over and "they're in there a little bit longer after they flushed." Kate explained, "The whole point is for everybody to pick it up and go, 'I’d like to thank my son and my dad' — and you can always tell when someone has."

    2. Right after the Emmy Awards in 2020, Zendaya went to Atlanta to start filming Spider-Man: No Way Home, so she left her historic award with her mom in Los Angeles. Zendaya's mom actually kept her award for "quite a few months" due to her demanding filming schedule, but eventually, Zendaya went to her house and said, "I'm gonna need that back."

    3. Richard Dreyfuss had just moved to NYC when he won his Academy Award in 1978, and he was scared to leave the award lying around while his apartment was being renovated. So Richard would wrap his Oscar "in a plain brown wrapper" and carry it on the subway to Brooklyn while he was performing in a staging of Julius Caesar. Since then, Richard's Oscar has a more permanent home in his home office in Los Angeles.

    4. Nicole Kidman decided that the best place to keep her two Emmy Awards would be in her daughters' bedrooms, and she told them "they're yours." Nicole hilariously revealed that her daughter Sunday "didn't want it" and told her mom that she wanted to "earn [her] own."

    5. For a very long time, Kevin Costner kept his pair of Oscars in his underwear drawer because he didn't want anyone to take them if they visited his house. However, he eventually moved the golden statues to a screening room in his home next to posters of movies that influenced him growing up. Kevin said that the screening room felt perfect because "it feels appropriate that you have to see a movie to see them."

    6. Emma Thompson also decided that the only great place for her two Academy Awards would be in the bathroom. In fact, while filming Last Christmas, Henry Golding visited Emma's home, and he found the surprising place she keeps them. "I was in the library and there's all her awards...and I was like, 'Where's the Oscars? Those are the ones that I want to see!' Couldn't find them," Henry recalled. "I was like, Maybe she's locked them up? So I go to the bathroom and lo and behold, she keeps her Oscars in the toilet."

In 2011, Halle Berry revealed that she keeps her groundbreaking Oscar in her bedroom, which is pretty normal, but what is surprising is she displays it right above her 2005 Razzie Award for Catwoman. Having the best acting award you can receive and arguably the worst sitting next to each other is a reminder for Halle. She said, "It reminds me, if I ever needed reminding, about the absurdity of this career...It keeps my working life in perspective."

    8. A few years after winning her Academy Award at just 11 years old, Anna Paquin kept her award in the back of her closet next to her boots. In an interview with InStyle at the time, Anna said, "I don’t display it because friends would think they had to comment and I don’t want that kind of attention."     9. Emma Stone adorably gave her Academy Award for Best Actress to her mom because she said it felt "a little strange" to display it in her own home.     10. Shortly after winning an Oscar, Jamie Foxx gave the statue to his manager because he didn't want the award to go to his head. He told his manager, "If I take that, I'll buy into the Oscar shit and I won't be funny anymore."     11. Rosamund Pike hilariously buries her awards in her garden in London, so that's where she planned to put her 2021 Golden Globe award, too. "I thought it would be amusing to bury them in the garden. So, there's a little bit showing. There's a glint of gold," she explained. And, in case you're wondering if Rosamund plans to dig them up anytime soon, the answer is no. She loves the idea of someone finding them in the garden after she's moved or when she dies.

    12. F. Murray Abraham's Oscar usually sits on a table near the staircase in his home, but the statue moves quite often. In fact, the Academy Award has appeared on stage in "every play" F. Murray has done since winning it in 1985. He also added, "The wardrobe people [for my plays] always make costumes for him, from a Hamster to a surf-bum to a ballet tutu, you name it."

    13. For a while, Michelle Williams' first Golden Globe Award was kept at Busy Philipps' house in Los Angeles. After winning the award, Michelle had to fly back home to NYC and couldn't fit the award in her carry-on luggage, so she just left it with her BFF. Seven years later, Busy showed off Michelle's Golden Globe on an episode of Busy Tonight, thus revealing that she was still keeping it safe.

    15. For a long time, Julie Andrews kept her Oscar in the attic of her house in London. In 2020, she revealed, "I put it in the attic because I didn’t want to look like I was bragging, 'Oh, look at my Oscar,' if it was front and center of the mantlepiece."     18. Cate Blanchett actually donated her 2004 Oscar to an exhibit at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne. Alongside Cate's award, the Screen Worlds exhibit also features Mad Max's V8 interceptor, a costume worn by Orlando Bloom in Ned Kelly, and more. While she loaned her first Academy Award to this exhibit, she kept her second one.

    19. After winning an Emmy Award in 2018, Tiffany Haddish joked that she wanted to keep the award in her bed. "I'm gonna put it in the bed next to me, so it feels like somebody is sleeping with me," she said on the red carpet that year.
