24 Wildly Unpopular Opinions About Popular TV Shows That Just Needed To Be Said

Meredith and Riggs were way better than Meredith and Derek on Grey's Anatomy.

We asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us some of their controversial opinions about popular TV shows. Here are some of the best responses:

    🚨Warning: There are spoilers ahead!🚨

Also important, I personally do not endorse all of these opinions. Like, I love Jess Mariano and every character on This Is Us...except Toby.

    1. First, on Riverdale, Veronica and Jughead should be a couple.

    The CW

"Veronica and Jughead would make a really good couple. They’re both strong and intellectual characters who have similar parallels in their pasts. If they got together, it would make for an interesting storyline."

    ReynaXv

    2. On Grey's Anatomy, Meredith and Riggs were a better couple than Meredith and Derek.

    ABC

"Derek had a habit of lying and was incredibly selfish. In my opinion, Meredith and Derek were toxic and Meredith and Riggs had just as much chemistry, but with a much healthier relationship."

    3. The series finale of Dexter was actually good.

    Showtime

    4. Ever since Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine came out, The Office doesn't seem funny anymore.

    NBC

"Ever since shows like Parks and Rec and Brooklyn Nine-Nine came out, The Office seems so bad. Sure, there are funny moments, but at the end of the day, they all barely tolerated each other and it was not fun to watch. I’d much rather watch an equally funny show about coworkers who actually care for and like each other."

    5. Michael Scott was the worst part of The Office and wasn't even funny.

    NBC

"Michael Scott was the worst part of The Office, and it got better after he left. Come at me all you want, but his character went over the top and had no redeeming qualities, yet for some reason, people cared for him."

    6. On The Office, Jim and Pam got really annoying once they officially became a couple.

    NBC

"I couldn't stand Jim and Pam once they got together. They were so mean to everyone else. I was totally rooting for them up until they became a couple and started acting like they were so much better than anyone else."

    7. On Stranger Things, Nancy should have died instead of Barb in Season 1.

    Netflix

"Barb should never have died and Nancy should've instead."

    ranianev13

    8. The series finale of Lost was good, and it gets way too much hate.

    ABC

"I absolutely loved the ending of Lost. I know so many people hated it or didn't understand it and assumed that everyone was dead all along, which isn't true. I thought the ending was beyond perfect."

    rawanbeshir

    9. The How I Met Your Mother series finale made perfect sense and was a great ending for Ted's story.

    CBS

"The show was all about Ted’s life, and he was great with Robin. They always had feelings for each other. This doesn't mean that Ted didn’t love Tracy — she was there for him at the right time — but after she died, he had to eventually move on."

    sarad480ccea9b

    10. On How I Met Your Mother, Marshall and Lily weren't good together and probably would've gotten divorced by now.

    CBS

"Marshall was whiny and clingy, while Lily was manipulative and controlling. Together they thought they knew everything about relationships just because they had been a couple for a very long time. However, throughout the show they lied to each other about very important things. In the real world they would have gotten a divorce within five years."

    Karlsels

    11. Breaking Bad was a very boring series and nothing interesting ever happened.

    AMC

"Breaking Bad is the most boring show I’ve ever seen. I watched the whole series waiting for something interesting to happen because everyone was so obsessed with it. It was very disappointing."

    dianas4c3a401d8

    12. The Game of Thrones series finale was good and made total sense.

    HBO

"I liked the way Game of Thrones ended. Dany was wild and needed to be gone. Also, Bran was the perfect choice for a king, the small council was positively perfect, and Jon deserved to go off and live with the people that always loved him."

    StipYit

    13. On Scandal, Olivia Pope was terrible at her job.

    ABC

"Everything always went sideways, her staff did whatever the heck they wanted, and she couldn't keep her mind on what she was doing for more than five minutes. She was the worst fixer ever."

    mickpatricktyphon

    14. The later seasons of Glee were actually good, and the new characters weren't too bad.

    Fox

"The later seasons of Glee were extremely over hated, and the new characters weren’t too bad. I enjoyed it."

    happy_feet_12

    15. The only good season of Friends was Season 2; the other seasons were unwatchable.

    NBC

"Friends had one great season, and that was Season 2. Every other season was virtually unwatchable and just got creepier."

    kend4fe281761

    16. Ross was always the funniest character on Friends.

    NBC

"Sure, Chandler had great one-liners, but when you look back on the funniest episodes and scenes, so many of them involved Ross. I mean, 'Pivot!', the leather pants, and Ross whitening his teeth were iconic."

    Breanna_Q

    17. On This Is Us, every character is super annoying except for Beth.

    NBC

"Every character except Beth is so annoying. They are all such whiny, one-dimensional characters that are so self-involved. I basically hate-watch the show at this point."

    hepburneyes

    18. Angel was better than Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

    Warner Bros.

"The 'Whedonverse' is my favorite fandom, and Angel was better than Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Angel was ultimately a more mature, darker, and deeper show. While Buffy had more memorable episodes, it is hindered as a whole by its mistreatment of several characters."

    jlb6

    19. On The Vampire Diaries, the best thing for Elena's character was when she was put into a coma.

    The CW

"Kai putting a spell on Elena and leaving her in a coma was the most interesting thing that happened to her. She was so whiny and annoying, and she cried all the damn time. She was such a crappy friend to Bonnie and Caroline."

    chloeb41384adf1

    20. Also on The Vampire Diaries, Bonnie and Damon should've been a couple in the end.

    The CW

"I loved Elena and Damon — I rooted for them so hard — but Bonnie and Damon had undeniable chemistry together."

    mlward

    21. On The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, Kol was the best Mikaelson family member.

    The CW

"He was amazing and deserved much more love than he got."

    h e l l o w o r l d

    22. On My Block is a super-cringey TV series, and the only good character is Jamal.

    Netflix

"At my school, On My Block is super popular, but I hate it! The characters are all annoying because they’re toxic to Jamal, who is the best character. I get how the show is trying to represent a part of LA that is overlooked, but the show makes my skin crawl."

    xkGGGx

    23. On Gilmore Girls, Jess was Rory's worst boyfriend, and he was only good to her once they broke up.

    Warner Bros.

"Jess sucked as a boyfriend. The moment Rory and Jess broke up, he became a great boyfriend, but when they were together, he treated her like shit."

    stephanieeckhardt33

    24. And finally, on Gilmore Girls, Jason "Digger" Stiles and Lorelai were a perfect match and should've ended up together.

    Warner Bros.

"Jason completely understood Lorelai's complex feelings and relationship with her parents. He was even willing to hide their relationship (at her request) until she felt comfortable and ready to tell them. He was smart and kept up with her pop culture references. They were great together."
